SOURCE: Dell 3100 CN replace drum cartridge

I found this posting on a Dell website. It maybe helpful before the chip activates.

Title: Extend drum life
Date: March 25, 2008
ProsIt prints
Consnot very long

Additional ThoughtsAfter the drum "expired" the first time I purchased a small $10 chip on a popular auction site and that brought it back to life. It then "filled up" after several more months. What is that? Well, if you occasionally would empty the excess toner that it picks up off the paper as it flows through the printer you can catch the drum before it "POPs" a small pressure sensor that would immediately stop the printing and say it is "FULL". There are two screws - one on each end of the "nose" of the drum. You will be shocked to see all that comes out.

The new magenta cartridge you put in is bad. If you put the old one back in then you get the low toner message. Take the new cartridge back and get another new one.  I found the answer on the dell troubleshoot website

SOURCE: I AM CHANGING THE BLACK TONER CARTRIDGE ON A DELL

Either the "toner cartridge sensor" N4445 isn't reading the chip in the toner,

or an MCU board P5281 or EEPROM is defective

SOURCE: I have changed black cartridge but it says error

The cartridges have a piece of clear tape on them which needs to be removed before installation, keeps the ink fresh sort of. Take out the cartridge and then look for the piece of clear tape, remove it gently and re install.

My dell 3110cn printer is displaying the following Error code 009 363 reseat k cart how do i fix this?

This error message indicates that the printer has failed to read information from the chip on the black printer cartridge.

This is either.

1. Black cartridge not fully pushed into place (I've been called out to a couple like this)

2. Faulty chip on the black cartridge - effectively not responding to the printer 'talking' to it.

3. Fault on the main board of the printer.

Solution

1. Push the cartridge fully home.

2,3. If you have an old black cartridge, try that. The message should change to Replace Toner, if it does, its the chip on the cartridge, if it doesn't its the printer.

I have installed a replacement colour cartridge but printer still has message to replace cartridge

Are sure its a 3130 cartridge (and not a 3110 cartridge). Physically they are the same, capacities are different, and crucially so are the chips.

If its a remanufactured cartridge this is a real possibility.

Are you sure that another cartridge is not empty (or nearly so).
