Question about Tricity Bendix WDR1040W Front Load Washer / Dryer
The programme selector dial on my 10 year old washing machine broke so it spins freely and therefore the machine cannot be used at all. I have now resolved this - but wanted to post this so others can follow the fix, as when I spoke to Tricity Bendix/Electrolux, their only solution was to replace the whole machine for the sake of a snapped bit of plastic that I have now replaced for gbp7. So - to fix 1) Unplug the machine 2) Remove the top lid by removing 2 screws at the back of the lid 3) Remove the centre of the programme selector dial by reaching down behind the front panel with a screwdriver and release the two plastic tabs holding the centre of the dial into the outer ring. Pull out. 4) Remove the outer ring of the programme dial by undoing the metal nut on the front, then reaching down and release the 3 plastic tabs that hold it onto the front panel piece. 5) This outer dial was what was broken - it should have a ring of teeth and tabs in the centre on the back that fit into the yellow Cam wheel. 6) Purchase Part number 1248201004 as replacement. This is actually for machine CAW1010, but is physically the same part. Note the WDR1040W part number for the obsolete dial is 1321499301, but the number printed on both is 12477630 - this is the moulding number, not the part number I paid gbp6+VAT. 7) (While waiting for delivery, mark on the yellow cam wheel the programme positions you need, and turn it with a screwdriver to still use the machine) 8) The new part has the numbers printed in the wrong place - hold the old and new together and mark the numbers by hand ! 9) Refix the dial (it only goes on way round - align the larger tab in the centre ring with the gap in the yellow cam. Replace the nut, click the centre cap back in place et voila. Saved having to buy a new machine.

hi this sounds like a syphoning problem this means the outlet /drain pipe at the back of the machine has been pushed to far into the drain upstand pipe causing the water to syphon straight through the machine make sure that the drain pipe is only part way down the drain pipe, hope this works for you cliff

Hi, Your problem is very common and very easy to fix. You will first need to strip the machine down and remove the motor. Once you have done this then take off the motor carbon brushes, These are the little things in cases on the side of the motor casing. These should be at least 1" long! you will find that this is not the case and they will need replacing to resolve your problem. The parts should not cost anymore than around £20 for the pair.
Good luck any problems get beck to me............................

This is relating to the 2006 model. The times are not printed in most manuals like they used to but on this machine most probably the quickest prog. would be( 4 ) this is 3 rinses and a long spin at 40 deg. If you are experiencing long times on your washes do check that your water pressure is good as that will shorten the duration of all cycles and save on electric.
Hope this was helpful.
