Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

It's arcus sinus, which, as opposed to the sinus function, returns the angle.

For example:

sin 30 = 1/2

arc sin 1/2 = 30 deg.

If you want to use a scientific calculator to evaluate your calculations, please make sure to use degrees. These calculators usually have 3 settings: deg (degrees), rad (radians), grad (gradius).

Arc sin, arc cos, atan actg are often referred to sin-1, cos-1 tan-1 ctg-1.

You cannot. Just put a number that is large enough so as to minimize the error in the evaluation of an integral. You must have an idea how the function behaves for large argument.

I am not sure what you mean. The key allows yous to calculate the definite integral of function which you enter on the command line. You must also enter the lower and upper limits. When used do differentiate, you must enter the function, and specify the point at which the first derivative is evaluated. Try the two features with simple functions to test whether the calculator is working.

Since rear defrost is a relay, not a fuse, you're looking for a big black square that plugs into the board with three prongs. If it rattles when you shake it, it's probably bad.

The syntax for the evaluation of definite integrals (integrals with boundary limits) is as shown on the screen capture below.

$ (function , variable , lower bound, upper bound)

By default the name of the dummy variable is x. If you use another name, the variable must appear as an argument of the function, and as variable.

I believe you are using the wrong syntax for the commands.

diff ( function, variable) Example: diff (sin(x^2), x) sgould give you 2.x.cos(x^2)

expand( will expand an expression that has parentheses: expand( (a+b)^2) will give a^2+2a.b+b^2

Integrate $

$ ( tan^-1(x), x) willl give x.tan^-1(x) -(1/2) ln ('x^2+1')

Check the syntax of a command before using it. You will find the list of all comands and their syntax in the reference manual.

The FX-115ES is somewhat different to other calculators you might know. The sequence of keys is more like writing up a calculation in a textbook, whereas for "normal" calculators operations are reversed in some places.

For example, with most calculators you would type 30 [sin] to calculate the sine function of 30 degrees, with the 115ES its [sin] 30 [=].

The 115ES has all the standard trigonometric functions:

- Standard functions (sin, cos, tan), type the [sin], [cos] or [tan] key followed by the argument.
- Inverse trigonometric (sin?¹, cos?¹, tan?¹), type [SHIFT][sin], [SHIFT][cos] or [SHIFT][tan] followed by the argument.
- Hyperbolic functions (sinh, cosh, tanh), type [HYP][sin], [HYP][cos], or [HYP][tan] followed by the argument.
- and finally inverse hyperbolic (sinh?¹, cosh?¹, tanh?¹), its [SHIFT][HYP][sin], [SHIFT][HYP][cos], or [SHIFT][HYP][tan] followed by the argument.

Press the relevant function key [SIN],[COS],[TAN] followed by the angle value.

For inverse trigonometric functions [SIN^-1], COS^-1], or [TAN^-1], Press [SHIFT][SIN], [SHIFT][COS], or [SHIFT][TAN].

For other functions

sec(x)=1/cos(x)

csc(x)=1/sin(x)

cot(x)=1/tan(x)

When calculating trigonometric functions one must make sure that the angle unit the calculator is using is the correct one.

The trigonometric function evaluations depend on the angle unit you are using: degree, radian, grad

While cos(90 deg)= 0,

cos(90 rad )=cos(90* 180/pi degrees)= -.448073616

ALWAYS CHECK UNITS before using trigonometric functions or their inverse functions.
