SOURCE: How to remove tower cover...

There are going to be a few small screws on the the back right side (if you are looking at the back of the tower. Remove the the screws from along the edge of the side ( you may have to loosen both sides ) and the case slides towards you then lifts off. If it doesn't budge use a flat head screwdriver to pry in between the cover and tower case and gently slide it towards you. Trust mr it won't break cause it's metal and if it bends you can use pliers to bend it back to shape. Hope the info helps GOD Bless You.

SOURCE: How do I remove the power button on Dell Dimension 8300 desktop

open the side- and along the just inside the front exposed edge there are several tab that get push inward to release the front. They have a tendency to catch again when you go to the next one...you'll just have to play with it a bit. once that is open you'll see the other little plastic tab that holds the switch assembly . Don't forget to UNPLUG the power supply.

What does 4 short beeps mean on start up for a Dell XPS 8300

4 Beeps means the POST test for RAM read and write failed. A memory chip may be faulty or isn't properly seated. Alternatively, one of the memory slots on the motherboard may be faulty.

First check your system specifications, how many RAM modules are installed in your XPS 8300. The motherboard can support up to 4 modules. If you are comfortable opening your computer, you should turn it off and unplug it. Remove all of the cables from the system (back and front ports). Place the system on its side with the cover up. Ground yourself relative to the computer case and remove the thumbscrew that secure the cover. Pull the cover to the back of the case and then lift it up to remove it.

Locate the memory slots near the center of the system. Remove all of the memory by pressing on the tabs on each side of each module. Then pull up gently on the module; if needed, wiggle it slightly. Try to keep the modules level as them up. Reseat the modules by pushing them down into the slots. The retaining tabs should click into small notches on each side of the module. (If one side doesn't click, press on that side of the module.) Inspect the modules and the slots for any obvious corrosion or damage.

You can test the memory by replacing only one module at a time and then restarting the computer. If the 4 beeps persist, turn off the computer. Remove that memory module and try a different slot. Also try another module. If all of the memory triggers the 4 beeps when used individually in any slot, try new memory.

I hope this helps. If you aren't comfortable doing the testing, contact a computer technician that you trust.

How do i remove this DVD Drive in a Dell XPS 8300

Open the case, press the green slider at the side of the Optical drive, and slide it out the front. You may need to remove the front to do this, I don't remember the details it's been so long. In fact, their may be a green button to press at the very top to "pop" off the front. So many models, so many variations.....sigh.
