Question about HEWLETT-PACKARD HP G62 Notebook

Touchpad Ribbon Cable

(posted yesterday, but my question disappeared.) I'm having trouble reattaching the two ribbon cables on my HP G62 laptop: the offwhite locking tabs detached, and I don't understand how to reattach them so they stay; and I don't know if the ribbon should go below the pins - or maybe above?

There will be two plastic "clip" pieces (if you will), they run about half a cm from the host. You just need to pull them out (again only about half to a quarter of a cm) and insert the ribbon. Once it's inserted push the two small plastic pieces back snugly against the ribbon to fix it in place. FYI it should look like an upside down this: Plastic Clip ----> '_'____'_' <---- Plastic Clip

Thanks. The two clip pieces came off, and the don't particularly want to stay on. One question for now: does the ribbon go ABoVE the pins and BELOW the clip (sandwiched in), or below both the pins and the clip? The latter seems more stable, but because the cable only seems to have exposed conductors on the bottom, I guess that's not the way to go ...?

See above (images) for a better understanding of how they clip, if it's a side by side one lay in the same way (but above the bottom face-plate) so you can see the top of the ribbon, lay it so the clips can "pull" the ribbon into place.

Part of maytag oven touch pad not working

Hello,

When certain buttons don't work on the touchpad sometimes it can be resolved by making sure that the ribbon cable of the touchpad fits tight into the control board, and also the end of that ribbon cable could be cleaned with a pencil eraser. If neither of those work the touchpad would need to be replaced.

My hp g62 i3 is locked. the keyboard is not functioning. The mouse works but not the keyboard. pls advise.thanks

There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one.

Keypad froze on lg microwave

Does it have a membrane type touchpad?

Just went through that. The touchpad was bad. Some numbers and functions would work - others wouldn't. Ended up replacing the touchpad. It cost about $31.00, including shipping.

Most touchpads attach with two side adhesive. The complication in the replacement usually involves the ribbon cable that connects the touchpad to the microwave control module. I had to disassemble the door to detach and reattach this cable.

How to connect ribbon cable from the touchpad to motherboard?

Hi Rob.
The little black plastic clip either pulls up or forward depending on the connection.
If the tab pulls up, slot the ribbon cable in as far as it will go and push the tab down to lock the cable in place.
If the tab pulls forward, again pop the cable in and push it back to lock it into place.
Ge gentle with the cable and the tab as they can be broken easily.

Good luck
