Question about Kenmore 700 6972 Dryer
The dryer is not heating at all. I bought it today (yesterday) from the one and only owner. It looks brand new. Im a girl with children. I don't know how to find out what is going on or fix it. I checked the door switch and the voltage converter in the wall, this dryer calls for a 220v mine is a 125/250v converter, would this cause the problem?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: GE dryer starts but..... stops
What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.

it should be in a housing mounted just inside the back panel. unlatch the housing from its mounts and the element slides out from the bottom

You probably have a bad thermal cut-off . This is the small thermostat , located at the top of the element housing . This " thermostat " should read infinate resistance ( no resistance ) . You can put the 2 wires togather , and see if heat comes on . pt # 3399848 . Both thermostats , should read 0 resistance . They are normally closed . The thermal cut-off , will not reset itself , if open . This is a safety t-stat , for when dryer gets too hot , and will have to be replaced .

Testimonial: "Great advice "
Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.Check online for the part repairclinic.com has it for $14.00 not bad
