Peavey XR800F 8 channel - I can't get but very little sound to my big speakers. Help

Troubleshooting is always a "process of elimination." Have you tried hooking up your Peavey powered mixer to another set of speakers? How about connecting the speakers to another audio system? Your term "very little sound" could mean audio input problems, mixer/amp settings or failure and possibly speaker damage (internal passive crossovers). Please be more specific.

I have an auto amp with no crossover for subwoofer. i am wanting to know if i can hookup a passive crossover for sub speakers through amp to speakers say from radioshack or other home speaker system? i...

You could go with a type of passive crossover, and that should allow you to also control gain as well as the bass input, and you can also go with a low pass filter as well. These are quite inexpensive at Wal-Mart and other places, and just run in-line with the wiring. There is no real cutomizability with the latter option, but it could be a means to get better sound while you save for a stronger crossover.

Integrate computer (huge MP3 library) into home theater sound (AIWA's fantastic speakers)

Sounds like the wiring for the speakers has been modified to bypass the crossover. Best to open up the speakers and see if there is a crossover. Both speakers should be wired to a crossover and the crossover wired to the speaker out on the amp. Crossovers can be bought from Jaycar in Aust or Madisound in US

I need to know the right wires to hook into

you will need a hi to low crossover box which converts your hight audio outbut into bass. This will splice into your factory speaker system which it has 2 rca outputs on it. These made by profile cost about 20 bucks. From here you will have to run a power wire from the batt. A ground wire in the trunk. and a remote wire from behind your radio which you will splice into your accessory wire..

No sound out of tweeters, highs out of woofers?

it does sound like you shorted out your crossover which can be fixed if you know what you are doing, but in the long run i would try to get another one i know that raidoshack sells some small ones and is also cheap, if your positive that you didnt short out the crossover se if it needs power, see if you can cross your woffers and tweeters on the crossover, if not is there any settings that u can change on the crossover? hope i helped :)

Im having trouble installing the sps-600c alpine speaker system. i need a wiring diagram or somthing as im un farmiliar with split speakers that dont have a cross over.

Hello lucal_s2000,

Well, actually those 600c's do have a crossover. It's encapsulated in the wiring you got with the components. Your head unit or amp speaker outputs connect directly to the woofers. The inline crossovers have a 12" wire on one end and a 22" wire on the other end. Connect the 22" side to the 2nd set of terminals on the woofers, and the 12" side to your tweeters, keeping all of the positives and negatives straight.

Here's an image of the connections.

How to wire in a cross over

You didn't say if it was active or passive, but here is both:

Passive crossovers are easy to install. By definition, the only type of connections they require are to your speaker line. They typically get installed between the end of the speaker wire and the speaker. Connection should be fairly simple, just like hooking up the speaker itself.

Now F-Mod crossovers modify the audio signal before it is amplified. They accept the patch cord from your receiver on one end, and then plug directly into the preamp inputs on your amplifier. They are also easy to install, and don't require additional wiring.

An active crossover requires a little more work. You have to connect 12-volt power, ground, and a turn-on lead. The active crossover gets installed between your receiver and your amplifier. A lot of active crossovers have both speaker-level and preamp inputs, so they can usually work with either type of connection. The outputs will be preamp connections to your amplifier. Hope that helps.
