I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

try printing a test page from the printer and if it works fine you need a software(HP smart web printing )
and you will get the software in the following website :
www.hp.com/go/smartwebprinting and there would be instructions given in the same page download and install the printer software and try printing from the internet using teh software and it shoul print perfect though it is complicated but this has been the best resolution for printing online
hope you liked the software and everything works fine
if you still have questions get back to us and we will surely help you

* Install the printer first and perform the following steps:
1. Click on Start >> Run (or in the 'Start Search' box).
2. Type MSCONFIG
3. Click on 'OK'. The Configuration Utility should open on the screen.
4. Click on the 'General tab'.
5. Choose 'Selective startup'
6. Check 'Selective startup'
7. Click on 'STARTUP' tab.
8. Uncheck all the programs which start with 'HP' or 'hp' except for 'hpqtra08'.
9. Click on 'OK'. Restart the system
If you are getting a message "System Configuration Utility, you are using the selective startup for troubleshooting your system", I suggest you check the check box in that window and click on 'OK'. This occurs if you are using the Selective startup option and not using the normal startup to reduce the number of startup programs.
Now verify the result

Just a thought, did you use the HP CD that came in the box?
Go to Apple's website and look under the support - downloads section. You'll find a mega-sized download of up-to-date HP drivers. Download it and install it.
Then open the print and Fax setting in system preferences and remove the existing HP printer, You should then have no printers listed in the printer box.
make sure the printer is connected to the macbook and switched on and then use the Plus symbol to add a new printer. In less than a moment your printer name should appear in the empty space. Select it and wait. You should then get a thing saying 'Print Using...." It should fill in automatically with info about the driver being used.
Do what ever it asks and then close the window and see if you can print without the earlier problems.
