I bought one, liked it a lot and bought a second one.
I had to tweak my PCI bus latency settings to get it to work without problems. Works great now. Adding the 2nd card stabilized things further.
Absolutely!
I did and may get a 3rd one in the future, although I'm presently considering putting my pennies towards buying a Royer R-122 mic' first.

I forgot to say...there's a UAD forum if you'd like more technical answers about the card.

Yes I have 2 of them.
I think they're great. None here.
Most of them.
I've got no slots for a 3rd card, and a Magma PCI expansion is just too much money.

I have a UAD-1...the early Mackie version that includes the LA-2A compressor in the native set of plug-ins. I got it via eBay. United Audio allows transfer of UAD-1 registration to another owner. I guess they figure the processing card is both a product and a dongle.
UAD-1 was was a bit unstable (annoyingly so) with Sonar 4.0.2 and earlier, but 4.0.3 fixed it. I was not happy about the playback-mute-while-recording problems that ensued when I first installed 4.0.3. I'm now running S4S 4.0.3 with good stability since I increased the disk I/O buffer setting to 512 (was 128). My previous Sonar version was S3P.
I find that the 1176LN/SE and the LA-2A and DreamVerb are worth the price of admission with this UAD-1 card. Working in combination with the Voxengo AnalogFlux Suite, I find that I only rarely have to instantiate the WaveArts TrackPlug (previous favorite compressor) or the Lexicon Pantheon (previous favorite reverbs). The Sonitus MultiBand compressor is handy for many things, so it gets a whirl once in a while.
I'm running on an Intel motherboard (i845?) and never had to bother with anything in the BIOS. I also have a second PC that does most/all of my softsynth work, so I don't generally set my latency below 11.6 ms.
In summary, I'm a satisfied user who might someday throw the money at one of the EQ plugins in the UAD-1 (perhaps a Pultec).
