normally you connect red wire to + and black to - ! black is the earth wire to engine case and red comes from the starter solinoide ! and are 3 to 4mm thick wire ! your wires sound like they go to rectifire regulater ! ???
You must find an independent bicycle shop that does repairs, speciality tools are required to work on shocks, some shops ship shocks to the manufacturer to get fixed. There may be a Manitou warrenty on them anyways, be prepared for it taking a while. REFER TO: Parktool.com
