Hi, The problem is with your audio drivers? And try uninstalling the driver from add remove program as well try to remove it completely from registry? and then again try to install the drivers the error u are getting is due to some issue with the registry entry? so try as i informed and reinstall the drivers from the below given url http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=1817055&taskId=135
1.change another Installation CD of Windows XP service pack 2 or install Windows Vista. 2. if any track of your CD is corrupted, then this type of error comes. 3. sometime if your hard is not formated correctly, then also some fatal error comes. 4. when formating always do full format, donot do quick format.
This is going to be either a bad disc or a bad hard drive. Do a hard drive test in the bios, if any part of it fails, then you will need to replace the hard drive. If the hard drive passes, then try a different operating system disc.
It would seem that your CD drive is not reading completely your installer CDs hence you can not complete the install procedure. Your best bet may be to temporarily replace with a known good/operation until installation has completed.
The 1386 should read I386 and is normally in D:\ which is the CD drive and is a folder in the Win XP installer.
Good luck and kind regards.
