You need the proper type of heat gun and the proper type of filler. It is mainly used for thicknesses over 1/4". The vinyl on a lounge would melt away from the ambient heat created by the gun.

If you can not figure out how to open the adapter case the easiest way to eliminate the frayed portion is to cut the cord on both sides of the frayed area. Make sure you mark one of the wires before you make a cut so you can match them back up when you solder it back together. Get some heat shrink tubing which will fit over each individual wire as well as a piece that will fit over both wires which will be covered with the smaller heat shrink tubing.

Once you cut out the bad portion slide the larger piece of heat shrink tubing onto the longer remaining wire as far from the cut as possible. Next slide a small piece of heat shrink tubing onto one of the split wires, again move it as far from the cut as possible. Strip about 1/2" of insulation from the cut wires. Wrap the stripped wires together making sure to put the marked wires together. Solder the wires together. You may want to hold the end of the wire closest to the heat shrink tubing with a pair of needle nose pliers to act as a heat sink so the tubing doesn't begin to shrink before you slide it over the solder joint. Now, slide the smaller heat shrink tubing over the solder joint and apply a heat gun to it. Slide the larger heat shrink tubing over the one remaining bare wire and the one with the small piece of heat shrink tubing. Apply the heat gun again.

This sounds more complicated than it is to actually do.

Speaker wire sheath has split

There are a number of items you could use to cover (repair) the exposed wire. I agree the quickest repair would be to use electrical tape, everyone has it at home but I don't find it very durable. The easiest, most durable, waterproof, and coolest solution would be to use Bondic
Bondic The World First Liquid Plastic Welder Not Glue

I found it the other week at my Redmond's Home Hardware store and I keep finding things to use it on. It has a precise applicator and the flow of material is very controlled so it allows for very tidy repairs.

You could also use liquid electrical tape, it's messier but it will stick better than regular electrical tape

Vinyl top removal

Talk with a panel shop or a vehicle upholsterer but as the vinyl is normally glued on with contact cement the I suspect that there will be paint damage. It may help to use a heat gun to soften the vinyl as you go but do not get too enthusiastic with the heat as it may damage the paint underneath . Which ever way it will be a slow job

How to replace socket on Jeep Liberty front parking light

Hi UtahBeeMan, I'm glad to help! The new socket that you buy will have a pigtail wiring on it, this is so you can solder and heat-shrink that wiring to the vehicle wiring. I suggest you do 1 wire at a time so you don't get the wires crossed. Here what you do, If you bought the socket at the dealer it will come with heat-shrink in the package, if you don't have heat shrink you'll need to buy some at the auto parts store. TOOLs You'll Need: Soldering Gun, Heat Gun, wire stripper. NEXT: Cut one wire, CAUTION: Make certain you are connecting the proper wire by holding the new connector up to the vehicle connector and start with the wire that you just cut. NOW: Strip the wires, next slid the heat shrink on one side of the wire as far back from the heat as possible. NOW: Put the wires together and solder them by placing the heat gun directly on the wire and letting it heat up, after it heats up touch the solder between the tip of the gun and the wire itself, this will give a nice flow of the solder, while moving along the wire. After soldering, let the wire cool down before covering the exposed wire with the heat-shrink. Then slide the heat-shrink into place and use the heat-gun to heat the shrink until you see the insulator material inside come out of the ends, once that happens you are done, move on to the next wire. Hope this helps and have an awesome day!

I just bought the soldering gun but the instructions on the package aren't very useful how do i use the gun?

A soldering gun is used much the same as a soldering iron for melting solder mainly to connect electronic components to circuit boards. To use it you plug it into the electricity mains and press the trigger. This causes the metal tip to heat up. Allow a minute or so for it to reach full heat and press it to the components you want to solder together. When they heat up press the solder against them. The solder melts and runs on and between them forming a bond. Remove the soldering iron and release the trigger. Once the trigger is released the gun starts to cool down again.

If you've used a soldering iron before you'll probably find the gun more awkward as it cools down every time you release the trigger. It's really only useful for quick jobs where you're not going to need it every few minutes. For other jobs where a lot of soldering is involved a soldering iron is better. The advantage the soldering gun has over the soldering iron is that it heats much faster for quick jobs.

The F 1 circuit breaker, manual reset is tripping not allowing it to weld. Could it be something as simple as the reset itself

Rated Output at 20% Duty Cycle 150 A at 16 VAC
150 A at 16 VDC Welding Amperage Ranges AC/DC 10 - 165A Max. Open-Circuit Voltage 80 V Amps Input at Rated Output AC-230V: 21A
DC-230V: 23A You need to configure the machine to specifications of the material you going to weld. That is :
-The material of the job
-And the proper amperage to use for the material.
-For aluminum you will use A/C
-Stainless Steele / Chrome Molly D/C

Aluminum MIG Welding
1. The best feeding of wire for aluminum is done with a spool gun. If you can't use a spool gun, use the shortest gun possible and keep the gun as straight as possible. Use Argon only for shielding gas. Only use a push gun technique when welding aluminum. 2. If you are having feeding problems, one thing you can try is a contact tip that is one size bigger than your wire. 3. The most common wire type is ER4043 for all-purpose work. ER5356 is a stiffer wire (easier to feed), and is used when more rigid, higher-strength weld properties are needed. 4. Clean the aluminum before welding, to remove the oxide layer. Use a stainless steel wire brush used only for cleaning aluminum. 5. Fill the crater at the end of the weld to avoid a crack. One way to do this is to dwell in the weld pool for a second at the end of the weld.

The only possibility would be to contact weller but my experience tells me it'll most likely not be worth the cost to repair it.

Digital heat gun won't run

Maybe its only the thermal overload switch , probably faulty and giving a false reading , they are designed to protect the motor from overheating , not really sure if you can fix it yourself though you might have to get it replaced if under warranty or repaired if not too expensive

Heat Guns Safety tips

Although safer than using a naked-flame blowlamp, care is still required when using a heat gun. Specific point are: * Because of the power of these tools (up to 2000W), when an extension lead is necessary, only use a lead rated at 10 amp or greater and always completely unwind the lead. * Never obstruct or cover the air inlet grills. If the air flow is reduced the heat gun will overheat and possible catch fire. * Never operate the heat gun with the outlet nozzle hard up against a surface, this will reduce the air and can have the same effect as obstructing the air inlet grills, * Do not use a heat gun near inflammable materials. * Always switch the tool off before putting it down on any surface. * Allow the tool to cool before storing it. * Do not place the nozzle next to anything whilst it is hot. * Never touch the hot metal nozzle with clothing or skin. * Do not use for stripping lead-based paints. * Do not allow any paint to stick to the nozzle - and if some paint does stick, allow the gun to cool down and remove the paint. * Do not look down the nozzle while the gun is turned on. * Do not insert anything down the nozzle with the gun.
