The new kobo update on my desktop (Mac Air Book)

I really have two problems: one with Kobo, the other with my Mac Mail application. Kobo keeps sending me an update which blocks my access to my Kobo library and even after downloading the update, I can only remove it by force quitting Kobo altogether. I have sent questions to Kobo support with every different wording I can imagine, but no dice. I finally found an email address for Kobo on the web, but the email apparently can only be sent from the Mac Mail application which I can't use because I can't remember or change the password. The email address for Kobo support refuses to appear on my Gmail Compose form.

alot of the times, just going into internet options and setting everything to default, and clearing the cookies and files works about 50% of the time.

This is possibly a yahoo issue. If you use yahoo thru ATT, you can call ATT for support and they will escalate any valid issues to yahoo for you.

Their phone number is 1-877-722-3755

ask for tech support at the prompt

they can remote on your computer to see if it is a java issue or whatever

if they can replicate it on their computer also, they will create a yahoo trouble ticket and give you thier member service number. Yahoo resolves 85% of these within 48 hrs.

If they cant replicate it, then they will consider it a pc issue and refer you to connect tech or to best buy's geek squad.

Personally, I would also try sending emails in safemode, If you can do it in safemode, and not in reg mode, it is definately PC related.

To get to safemode, turn your computer off and when you turn it back on, tap the F8 button until you get an advanced screen. Pick safemode with networking with the arrow keys. Log in, click yes when it tells you you're running in safemode, and then when your on your desktop, which will look alot differnt, black background with big icons, click on internet explorer and go to mail.yahoo.com and see if it works now, if it does, like i said, its pc related. If it still cant, call ATT's support if you have thier DSL or U-Verse

SOURCE: Someone sent mass mailing using my aol email account.

You can change the password to the email and delete all those annoying e-mails. I have had this happen in my AOL account. I changed the password and now they stopped coming. This happened on April 1st when all those annoying things started.
You may want to change passwords for other online sites you use just in case they read your emails that had passwords in them.

My kobo is frozen on starting sync won't turn on or off


Note: If your Kobo device has been physically damaged, it is no longer covered by Kobo's limited warranty. On a Kobo eReader, a physically damaged screen will look like it's been shattered, or you may see vertical or horizontal lines on the screen with a frozen image. If you haven't dropped or damaged your Kobo eReader, but are experiencing issues, try the steps below in the order suggested.
  • Turn your eReader off and then on again.
  • If your screen is frozen, slide the power button to the right and hold it for 10 seconds. Your eReader should turn off.
  • Turn your eReader off and charge it for at least four hours. Note: Your computer should be turned on while you are charging your Kobo eReader.
  • If your eReader isn't charging, try using a different Micro USB cable or a different USB port on your computer. Note: If your eReader's battery is completely drained it can take up to 15 minutes before it reacts to being plugged into power.
  • If you're having trouble while reading a book on your Kobo Aura H2O, Kobo Aura, Kobo Aura HD, Kobo Glo, or Kobo Mini: tap the centre of the screen to bring up the Reading Menu, tap the > Home icon to return to your Home screen, then open your book again.
  • If you're having trouble while reading a book on your Kobo Touch: press the Home button and open your book again.

talk to customer service for KOBO. You may have bought a book in the wrong format for you reader. Also contact the place you bought the book from for a refund.

How do i download books onto my kobo ereader


You should have first of all downloaded Kobo desk top apps on to your computer - after which you can buy book....then syncing ...once the book has been loaded to your library you plug your e-reader in and syncing, this loads the book on to your e-reader..

My kobo wont open the book, keeps loading but does not open


Does your Kobo turn off and on normally? Or is it stuck loading the book and totally not responding? If so, reset your Kobo. Look on the bottom edge of the Kobo - see the little pinhole? Stick a paper clip into there until you feel it push against a little switch. Remove the paper clip.

Is the Kobo working, but simply can't open a book? If it's only affecting a particular book, try deleting it and downloading it again.

When I plug my Kobo ereader into my laptop, it is not acknowledged by my Kobo desktop. Also when I try to send a book to my ereader from downloads, there are no options; the port(s) used before now only...


Hi Brian,
Kobo has, unfortunately, had a lot of issues with their hardware. Your best option is to:
  1. Uninstall any software it came with.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Reinstall the software your device came with and re-sync.


Alternatively, you can use Windows Restore Point's and go back to a certain point in time where the Kobo device and your PC could sync. The link to do this can be found here:

Where do I find the KOBO desktop


The Kobo eReader is a portable device that lets you read digitized books.
Downloading the eReader is physically impossible.
However, Kobo Desktop is available on the Kobo website.
This application will let you read and buy Kobo eBooks with a computer.
Use the desktop application for transferring purchased eBooks to your eReader.
The download and installation will not take more than two or three minutes.

Open an Internet browser.
Type "kobobooks.com/desktop" in the browser's Address bar, then press the "Enter" key to load the page.
Click the "Download App!" button and the download begins.
Double click the "Kobosetup" file, when the download completes, to launch the Kobo Setup screen.
Click the "Yes" button after the User Account Control dialog box appears.

Click the "Install" button after the Windows Security dialog box appears.
Click the "Next" button after the Kobo Setup installation completes.
Click the "Finish" button to exit the Kobo Setup screen.
