Question about Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook
So my boyfriend is a computer technician and he tried switching the hard drives of my laptop and and replaced it with another. The other hard drive looked a little different but he placed it in anyway and it turn on. So he switched them back and it still didn't turn on. We checked the battery and the prongs in which the hard drive has on it and everything seemed fine. We looked up countless solutions and still haven't found anything that worked. Also, a few moments before he tried switching the hard drives my computer had frozen and i decided to remove the battery for a while which is what I always have done when it freezes. Our reasoning for wanting to switch the hard drives were because my laptop has a password locked onto it from when my mom had it and I could not make any changes and have tried a password resetting program and nothing works. But, anyway, can someone help me with this? I have lots of personal things on it that I need for school.

SOURCE: Acer Aspire 5004 laptop
yes hard drive may be malfunctioning or it may be a virus
you can try using a diagnostics tool to be sure
if its faulty or not
here try this
after downloading file you will need to write iso to cd using a program like imgburn
you will then need to boot from the cd
you can change the boot order so that it boots the cd first on your laptop's bios

it surely is a keys combination. just find the little icon that represents wireless over the f1, f2, f3.... keys... arround those keys and by pressing and holding Fn key and at the same time that wireless key you will enable/disable the adapter...

Yes, it's not the hard drive.
More than likely it's your motherboard.
There's not much you can do besides trying to boot the computer without the battery, and removing and reinstalling the memory.
Hopefully you'll get lucky!

SOURCE: acer aspire one will not work.
If you get a post screen with Acer written on it at startup, and the screen turns off when loading the system (Windows or Linux), then you need to reinstall the system using an external USB cd unit and the recovery disk that was provided with your Acer.
If instead the display has no screen at all , try connecting an external monitor to test the laptop.
If you get picture on external monitor, then the Aspire One has a faulty LCD ribbon cable or a faulty LCD display or inverter.
If you get no picture on external screen , then you have a faulty motherboard, possibly faulty video chipset on motherboard.
In any case check your Acer One warranty, all the faults listed are covered by Acer warranty for one year.
Contact Acer at the number listed on documentation to have the computer repaired.
