Re: CONNECTION CANNOT BE ESTABLISHED
Check your USB ports with another device like a flash drive.
Reset your USB ports:
Here is what you can do to refresh the USB ports: 1. Right click MY COMPUTER 2. Select PROPERTIES 3. Select HARDWARE 4. Select DEVICE MANAGER 5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS 6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall 7. Uninstall all entries 8. Reboot your computer 9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB drive.
If your USB ports are working, download and install the new version of Destop Manager and HotSync @

Try doing a hot sync first. Here are the steps: Hold down the power button and then depress the small hole in the back with the tip of your stylus. Continue to hold them both in until you see the Palm logo. Let go of both of them and then follow the onscreen directions. You will want to answer yes and use the 5 way navigation button on the bottom of your pda and hit up so that is completes the reset. After that you will have to set up your touch screen and go through the tapping the target. After you have gone through all this then do a hotsync. It should clear up your problem. Best wishes.
Hi you could either have a problem with the lead witch is the cheapest problem to solve the other problem is with the palm top itself if this is the case then you will need to send it off to get the firmware updated you cant do this yourself because you cant get the correct software to do this you might even need to put the device in recovery mode to install the latest firmware so it will need sending off to do this if you contact customer support number for your device then they should tell you the best way of doing this ok
Hi, It sounds like you have the settings wrong in the software on your desktop. If you are trying to hot sync it and your desktop software is set to sync it a different way other then by USB cable you will get that error message. Here is a link to a step by step guide of problems and solutions. Hope it helps.
1. Go to your desktop program
2. Go to top and select HOTSYNCH
3. Select Set Up
4. Select the port your E2 is attached to
5. Theres more but I need to know how you are to this point or go to live tech support and ask for Just_Bobz
Check to make sure the cable is securely plugged in to the USB socket on your computer, and the other end is securely plugged into the Palm device. Unplug them and plug them in again, don't just push on the ends -- if there is dust or something messing up the connection unplugging and plugging in again might shake it loose.
I have a similar problem with my m515. I have 3 palms and 2 sync fine but the 3rd isn't even getting to the computer. There is no recognition from the computer that the palm is trying to sync even though I use the same cradle for all palms. The ensuing message is, "the connection between your handeld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again". My settings are set Local and Cradle/Cable.
I have the same problem, but with TWO z22s. Both are about a week old, and both "talked" seamlessly to the computer. Suddenly neither does. Do not see anything wrong with USB port or cable. Uninstalled all PALM OS from desktop and reinstalled. Still no link.
