Garage door won't close by remote in cold weather

My garage door opens by remote anytime just fine but only closes by remote when the weather is warm (above 45 or 50 degrees). The "eyes" are not impeded and are aligned. I have to hold the garage wall switch to close the door clear until its closed all the way.

garage door will not close when it's cold out. door goes down until about a foot off ground, then goes back up. you have to use the wall mounted keypad and hold the button down until the door is all the way closed.

Exactly the same problem. It has to be above 55 degrees before it operates consistently. With the remote it will move a few inches then halt and flash. Holding the button in until it is completely down is the only way to shut the door.

I have the same problem, but under the opposite conditions. When it is very cold, the door/remotes/wall button work perfectly, but when it is over about 30 degrees you have to depress the button until the door closes fully. I am baffled!

There are ususally two adjustments on garage door openers...
One is for the pressure and the other is for the travel. Assuming that the travel adjustment is properly adjusted...

On a cold day things are a little tighter and it "wants" a little more downwards pressure to complete its cycle. Sorta like me in the morning -- I need a little coffee to get going on a cold morning.

Adjust the down pressure/force just enough to make the unit close properly. Do not over adjust the down pressure or you will find it won't stay closed. Sometimes the manufacturer doesn't make it too clear where this adjustment is, but you should be able to find it if you look around.

I have seen units that were installed for years all of a sudden need a little tweak of this adjustment.

Good luck

The green eye receives the the signal from the Amber side. When is not on the sensors won't work. As far as the cold chamberlain did have a few issues with sensors not working or intermediate issues in cold weather. Their solution was to replace the sensors. But before you do that check everywhere the wires are stapled. Make sure that they are not pinching the wires.

My garage door will only open half way. It appears to be getting stuck when it is opening.

If you haven't gotten your issue fixed yet... I had the same problem (stopped opening half way when using the remote, went down fine, could lift/close manually fine as well) and this happened on our first cold weather day of the year which was very telling. Anyhow, there are two gauges/dials on your garage door opener unit itself (above, where the light is) which controls how much torque/strength your door uses to open or shut through resistance. I turned mine up some and it now works fine; what likely happened was that the metal tracks or the wood frame condensed in the cold and was providing just enough resistance to stop it when opening - as they have a security device built in to stop if they meet any resistance. Hopefully this helps!

Does the motor run? Does it make a noise. What actually happens?

Cold weather came in and now the garage door closes about 6 inches then goes back up. I have sprayed penetrant on all moving parts and the door closes fine manually. It is minus 30 degrees celcius outside...

Try increasing the 'down force'. You will find the control on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Increase it about 1/4 turn and try.

Lift-master 2000SDR remotes will open but not close garage door. Same problem with all clickers and even those programmed into the cars. What could this be and better yet, how do I fix it?

Lift-Master 2000SDR opener. Opener generally works fine from the remotes. However, first time in the morning in cooler weather, it will start to close and the reverse and the lights blink. I have checked the senors - appear to be aligned properly. I have lubed the gear and used garage door spray on the rollers and hinges at the proper places. To close the door when this happens, I have to hold the wall button.

Remote will not open or close door when temperature is cold.

if this is an outside remote the best you could do is maybe put someting to insulate the remote if it is in your car don't leave it on the visor put it in the glove box or maybe the center console it is obvious that expansion/contraction physics are playing a part
