Pc freezes after post

Jetway MB HA06-GT, Seagate SATA, AMD Athlon 64X2 5800, 4GB Kingston RAM, Windows XP
Not all the time, but sometimes PC freezes just after post and all I get is a black/gray screen. I have to hit the reset button and then Windows will load. After Windows loads, everything works fine.

New MB will not post.

If you have installed an existing hard drive that has Windows already installed on it into the new motherboard then you need to re-install Windows because the existing drivers on the hard disk will not match the drivers required on the new motherboard.

I would like to improve the speed of my PC. Currently running Soyo KT333 dragon Ultra plus; AMD Athlon 2400+ 2.0GHz; 1.5 GB RAM. What can I upgrade to these days?

Hi.

The motherboard has an athlon xp socket, so you can upgrade your processor to an Athlon xp 2800+, that will give you a boost from 2.0 ghz to 2.250 ghz.

The motherboard can accept ddr333 type ram, to a max of 3 gb's of ram.

The ram increase will probably provide you with a better performance boost than the processor will, and it is most likely alot cheaper as well.

I hope this helps you out, and have a good day.

No signal on monitor

You might try switching the VGA cable if you haven't. If that doesn't work then I'd agree with you in saying the motherboard is likely fried.

Hi!

Easy problem to solve my freind:)
Do like this, start the installation as you did before, when your pc restarts, get in to bios again and change the first boot from cd/dvd to the HDD. That will solve your instalation problem:)

Good luck to you

My msi km400 8237 acpi problem

If you had APM or no power management activated, you will need to reinstall windows after turning on ACPI to load the new ACPI HAL and to detect the hardware again. Otherwise windows will be confused about the type of PC it's installed on.
