Hi. These mixers normaly make a lot of noise when in operation. Go to the shop that sold it to you, or any place that has these units on display and ask them to turn on the mixer for a demonstration. If their mixer does not make the same noise, then contact Kitchenaid Customer Service and ask for a replacement under warranty. If this solution assists you, please rate it. Good luck! ricardok45

BTW, i got 2 sets of beaters with mine and i dont know what the second set is for, do you? contact me at email@example.com
hi mary. there is a phillips head screw in the rear of the mixer head. if you turn the mixer around you will see it in the band. remove that screw then remove the other four screws that hold the top on the motor cover. good luck with it.
