Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

1 Answer

My 30 gig Ipod video kills the battery. my son gave it to me and I didn't use it for about a year and when I tried it was dead. plug it in & charge then dead in approx 30 mins EVEN IF i DON'T TURN IT ON! I have installed new batteries TWICE! same result. If I leave it plugged into my speaker dock or in the car plugged into power it runs fine. As long as I have power plugged into it. unplug and dead in 20-30 mins? what's up? Jking

Sorry, it sounds like it got wet. You can send it back for repair if it is a Gen5. If found it did get wet Apple may charge you some for the repairs, but it will be cheaper than a new one.

Ipod touch battery

have you tried a factory reset (in itunes, while your ipod is plugged in, click on the ipod touch icon to the left, then go to general, and go to "reset ipod to factory settings" or something similar)...this will only erase what is on your ipod...it won't affect your itunes. also, if you already tried reseting it and still not working...you could get the 2.0 firmware update...it's about $10 dollars to upgrade to that though (i'm not a fan of apple...especially not now) you can get the upgrade directly from the apple website here ....so try those solutions. also make sure you have the correct drivers installed..which would be ..and if those don't work, i would call apple and talk to them about that issue..if it is still under warranty, you should be fine to have it replaced (or if you bought it somewhat recently) and if not...you'll have to sharpen your voice to a almost threatening tone and apple will most likely give in and either replace it or give you money.. ((i called them when i got an ipod video 30 gig, and 1 week later they released the 60 gig for the same price as the 30....so i called them and yelled at them alittle bit...they gave me $50))....i hope this has helped....oh and do you have a mac or windows? is it 1st generation ipod touch or 2nd generation (very thin is 2nd generation)? also make sure the drivers are up to date (if your computer is connected to the internet, open itunes and plug in your ipod, it should tell you if you need new drivers...if not, you're good)

30 gig Ipod wont come on

Hello HBB-Wildman,

It sounds like the battery in the iPod may have failed. The internal battery pack in the iPod is designed to last a long time but will eventually fail and require replacement.

I would suggest either taking the unit into your local Apple Store or following the procedure on the iPod support page to get service on the unit.

Best Regards,
Ken

Hmmm...the MP3 parts shouldn't have lined up with the iPod dock. Check that area for damage in case your son accidentally forced it. Otherwise, hold the power button for 15 seconds. That can occasionally jump-start my player, and it turns the player off even if it is frozen.

IPod Battery

You should try using a different USB cable and connecting to a different USB port and seeing if the problem persists. If it does, the problem's probably with the iPod's logic board.
