SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet dryer not drying like it used to

If your duet isn't heating properly and you have taken care of the lint problem then you could have one of two problems. Either you have a bad heating element or you have a bad fuse or temperature sensor.
If your dryer is not heating at all then it is most likely the fuse or temp sensor. If it is heating and just not enough it is probably a bad heating element.
Both problems would require a repairman to come and fix normally, however if you believe it is the heating element that can usually be replaced by the homeowner without too much trouble. Just make sure to ask where it is located from whatever place you but the new element from.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gas Dryer (ggq9800pw1) - No Heat

You have a leak somewhere in your gas system, Either from the gas valve or some other tubing. In this situation unless you understand how it works I would recommend getting a tech out to look at your system. That way you know that it is being done properly.

Maytag DG410 gas dryer-no flame, no heat. I replaced the ignitor - that apparently isn't the problem. Other ideas?

Motor runs, but main burner will not ignite
1.heat switch set wrong---correct switch setting
2.defective timer or timer circuit---check timer wiring--replace timer motor or switch as needed
3.defective centrifugal switch in motor---clean switch or replace as needed
4.gas supply valve closed----open gas valve
5.inoperative solenoid coil---test coil for open circuit & the voltage to it
???
Pilot burner goes out
1.insufficient gas supply---- low gas pressure or clogged pilot filter or partially closed gas valve
2.carbon deposit on thermocouple tube---clean tube & check pilot burner for proper combustion
3.improperly adjusted pilot flame--adjust pilot flame until faint yellow tip begins to appear
4.faulty ignition or reset valve or thermocouple---replace

Clothes not drying, but dryer runs & heats
1.defective operating thermostat---test thermostat, replace if defective
2.fan or it's pulley loose on shaft---tighten set screw
3.incorrect heat or timer settings---reset timer
4.clothes to wet when placed in dryer----wring out or extract water from clothes before placing in dryer
5.clogged lint screen or duct (little air motion)---clean out lint screen & duct

Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly. if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip.... If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat. check outthis electric no heat tip...

Slow to dry

Hi!!

Have you cleaned the filter and the exhaust duct??

Lint plugs therm up, the heat sensor shuts off heating element thinking it is hot enough. Result: Clothes not getting dry.

Unplug duct and clean it, also clean the exahust passage of dryer. (where duct hooks to dryer)

Click below if this was helpful, Good luck.

Heat goes off after a min. in use. Whirlpool Model # LGR4634JQ2. Took apart back and cleaned exhaust.

if it's gas it could be that the pilot is not close enough to the gas sensor and when the drier is in motion the extra air motion shuts it off.
if its elect it could be that one of the fuses are not set shut both fuses down and turn them BOTH back on
Gas clean the elect pilot and be sure it is close to the sensor that looks like a little tube

Hi I am trying to clean my drain unsder my washer. I do not know how to pull the cover off.?? It appears I need special alan wrenchs for two little screws..?? any ideas??

Though the idea of repairing a clothes dryer can be pretty intimidating, the truth is that some types of repairs are surprisingly easy. Yes, dryers appear to be built like huge, impervious metal boxes, but they are typically pretty easy to open and relatively simple to fix.

As shown at How Clothes Dryers Works, a clothes dryer has a motor that turns a big drum containing the clothes, a heat source for blowing warm air into the drum to dry the clothes, and controls for operating the motor and heat source.
Some dryers have an electric element to do the heating while others utilize a gas flame; the latter must be vented.
Clothes dryer problems generally occur because the heat source doesn't heat properly or the motor fails to turn the drum.
If a gas dryer doesn't dry properly, the first thing to check is the pilot light or igniter--it may not be lighting the burner. The second thing to check is the dryer's vent-if it is clogged with lint, the heating system won't work properly.

Pay attention to basic safety measures when working on a dryer. Always unplug the dryer, and turn off the gas supply to a gas dryer at the appliance shutoff valve.
As with most appliances, maintenance will keep your dryer purring. Clean the lint trap after every load, and clean the vent system once a year.

Whirlpool dryer with no heat

Is the igniter glowing yellow? Look inside the pilot access hole and see if it lights up. If it lights up then goes off, it may be the thermal fuse. Once this blows, it has to be replaced. There are pictures all over the internet on the location of this part.
Good luck.
