Usually, the voicemail message is stored in the voicemail system, which is handset-independent. Call in to your voicemail (usually hold down the 1 key or look for the key with the envelope and hold it down - it will dial your voicemail account) and follow the prompts to set up your mailbox, and "change your greeting."
DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL FOR FUTURE REFERENCE!! LOL Scroll down to page #39 to where it says Use Voicemail and follow the instructions!! As per the service tech I spoke to on the phone to find this link, following these instructions will automatically erase your old voicemail unlock code as well as any as yet unheard messages.
Just in case anyone still has difficulty in finding the instructions.....
Set Up your VoicemailBefore your phone can receive voicemail messages, you must set up a 4-10 digit passcode and record a personal voicemail greeting. When you have set up your voicemail, all unanswered calls to your phone are automatically transferred to voicemail, even if your phone is in use or turned off.1. Press and hold the 1 key.2. Follow the system prompts to create a password and record a greeting.
Check your Voicemail
When you receive a voicemail message, a notification with a voicemail message icon appears at the top of your screen. • At the voicemail notification, select Call to call your voicemail number and follow the system prompts to retrieve the message. Select Ignore to clear the notification without checking messages. The notification icon remains on top of the screen until you listen to the message • When only the voicemail message icon appears on top of the screen, select Voicemailand follow the system prompts to retrieve the message.
this way will take awhile, but this is the only way i know how to record a personal greetong so far:
on page 10 of the manual, it tells you to press and hold the 1/E key.
This will automatically connect you to your voice mail.
after listening to your messages or no messages, the robot lady says, "main menu."
after hearing this, pay close attention because she asks if you would like to be taken to "personal options" (press 4)
she will then ask if you would like to be taken to "greetings or recorded name" (press 3)
she will then ask if you want "to change [your] personal greeting" (press 1)
then she asks 3 options of what you can do (ie her telling people your number, then telling them to leave messages; you saying your name, then her telling people to leave messages; or what you asked about: recording your own greeting).
To record your "personal greeting," press 3
then she gives you directions for this, etc.
hope this helps and that it is the same for your phone... i have a propel A767... it took me a long time to figure this out, so you are not alone :D
Depends on what carrier you have. I have Verizon, and you go into your voicemail, and it will walk you through it. If you need help you can call them, and they will walk you through it too, just dont call from your phone. Good luck.
