I opened my chest freezer and found everything was no longer frozen. I have had the freezer for more then 10 years in the same spot.
When I started to unload the meat the motor started up. It seems to be cooling just not freezing. I don't remember ever setting the temp. and can't find a way to adjust it.
The motor has started 2 or 3 more times since I found the problem, could we have turned the temp down without knowing or am I looking at a bigger problem.

Look for a thermostat near the compressor compartment, I first try setting the thermostat up and then down a few times, it may just be stuck and full of dust or dirt. Or just replace it. Very simple, only two or three wires and route the sensor into a sleave.
