I opened my chest freezer and found everything was no longer frozen. I have had the freezer for more then 10 years in the same spot. When I started to unload the meat the motor started up. It seems to be cooling just not freezing. I don't remember ever setting the temp. and can't find a way to adjust it. The motor has started 2 or 3 more times since I found the problem, could we have turned the temp down without knowing or am I looking at a bigger problem. Thanks

Look for a thermostat near the compressor compartment, I first try setting the thermostat up and then down a few times, it may just be stuck and full of dust or dirt. Or just replace it. Very simple, only two or three wires and route the sensor into a sleave.

The chest freezer was open wide for 24 hours before I noticed it. Will I have a problem with the unit or will it be fine

as cold air sinks to the lowest point it would have been operating a little longer that if it was closed I would think that it will be fine
example chest freezers in supermarkets only have plastic sliding lids and the ice creams and other frozen foods are still frozen

I have recently purchased an 14.9 cubic foot chest type freezer after the delivery I plugged in the unit and left it runnig for about an hour and lifted the lid to check it out and felt on the inside of...

Good day,
That is totally normal. 24 hours is a good test period, and your model may not have refrigeration coils equally on all sides.
Smart to place a paper cup on the bottom center of the machine, half full of water.
When frozen solid, your good to go.

Freezer not keeping foods frozen

If this freezer is running all of the time and only freezing the walls at the top inside it is a good chance there is deteriation in the piping in the walls eg (rusty pipes) letting the refridgerant escape (common fault) with chest freezers. If it is more than 7 years old it would be advisable to replace it as the repair would probably cost 3 quarters of replacement price.Hope this helps. Kind Regards.

Chest freezer not freezing on bottom

Sounds like a circulation problem. Does it have a fan inside the freezer. Should be bdhind the floor or one of the wall panels. There should be a vent for the air to circulat through. If so check to make sure it's running when the compressor runs.

Freezer stops and start

ice cream is always the last to freeze and a temp of minus -10 degrees is usually required to get it to get hard. if you put the ice cream in the door it will be especially tough to freeze. a good thermometor is a good investment as you can observe the temps. usually ten degrees or 20 degrees is what they run. yes they do cycle on and off as long as they hold temps thats good. the outside of the freezer gets warm because the hot compressed refrigerant is spread through piping near its surface giving up its heat of compression . setting the stat to max will freeze the ice cream eventually but utility bill suffers . good luck
