Question about Weller TC201T: Soldering Iron For Wtcpt, 42 Watt

1 Answer

Hi! I need the female end of the connector that the soldering iron itself connects to the base for a Weller WTCP soldering station. This is a black connector, and I need the female part that mounts in the base. Also, how do I get the base apart? Screws under the rubber feet? Thanks! Bill B.

You mean the female plug on the soldering station itself? If so, yes you would have to take it apart via any screws on the enclosure.

Bill, i would use a connector with the correct number of ends made for a radio. you could probally find them at radio shack. be sure to connect the right wire to the right pin on each. you would need male and female. then the next question is yes four screws under the rubber feet

You may have a broken wire in the temp sensor in the tip of the iron or near where the iron connects to the base.

The solder station (power unit) is turning itself off randomly

I have heard that some of these had a failure on the regulator circuit that was packaged on a ceramic substrate with the control pot. Not sure if yours is this type.

hi, i have faced the same problem with my station also. the issue will be only with your 6 pin connector, check whether all the pins are getting connected properly. some times when u apply force the connector's pin may go inside. check up with that.

The #7 indecate a operating temp. of 700°F

It is problay the thermostat contacts that needs burnishing, that should fix it so that you don't have to buy a new heater / thermostat. Their parts are expensive.
