Ativa shredder X1800 - shredder does not respond. green light present. Reverse works fine. I killed it with too much shredded paper.

Unplug it. Lift the shredder unit off the catch-bucket. Remove any paper caught in the blades. You may need needle-nose pliers to pull jammed paper out from between the cutters.

Are the shredder blades going around? most shredders have guides that guide the paper between to shredder gears or teeth. these guides are usually made of plastic and breake. First step is to see if the shredder gears or teeth ar going around.....

I just need to know how to oil the Ativa AT1250 shredder. We no longer have the manual. Is there a specic "well" to place the oil into or is it just spread across the blades.

Just use regular "shredder oil", if you hav'nt put any oil on in some time pour it directly onto the blades....once in a while put the oil onto a sheet of paper you are going to shred and shred the paper with the oil on it.

Does the Ativa CX12W need lubricating, and if so how? I don't see anything in the manual?

Yes!

3-in-1 or Marvel Oil will do just fine.

Start the shredder and squirt a generous amount of oil down back and forth into the feed slot to soak the blades.

Blades all bent and paper still twisted on them.

Proper procedure for oiling a shredder is to wet a sheet of paper with the oil across the width of the sheet
and allow the oil to saturate the sheet before feeding the sheet though the CLEAN shredder for which there
are brushes that will accomplish the cleaning job, which should precede the lubrication job.

You need a wire brush, supplied by your original vendor, if Office Depot, as shown here, before giving up
on the shredder you have. As to supply of a new set of blades, replacement of the shredder is cheaper.

XF50D motor won't turn shredder blades

There is no viable solution.  There are no replacement parts available.  The Office Depot shredder is a cheap low quality product made by a cheap company.  The FIXYA service agreement costs more than the product.  Bad choice to buy the product!

Pull out as much of the paper as possible. Then spray some window cleaner or similar on whats left to soften and disolve it.

The main problem with paper shredders is tha t they don't get their proper maintenance...
They should be lubricated (If you open the door, you will probably find a small bottle with lubricating oil inside the cabinet). Look inside the supplied manual and follow the instructions.
I tell this because one of my friends has business with paper shredders, and the most common cause is missing maintenance and/or lubrication.
If it's the blades in the center that cause the problem, this points to a worn out wheel that hasn't got the proper lubrication.
The solution is to get a new shredder, or if your shredder is of a known brand, get a new set of wheels.
