Problem for Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera
40D not communicating with EOS utility
I have a 40D and have installed the EOS utility software on 2 different computers. Now the camera is not communicating with either computer; the cable is connected properly, the camera is on "on"...any suggestions?
I have downloaded many images to both computers in the past.

- Camera cannot communicate with EOS Utility.Updating doesn't help (driver, firmware, EOS Utility+all the other programs).
Canon support is clueless.

open device manager, connect camera, it will be seen briefly with yellow triangle and exclamation mark. open it up and uninstall.
Disconnect camera and close windows down. Restart windows, connect camera and switch on, windows will then find it and install driver. Took me hours to figure this one out

a recently installed program may be the problem, My advice though is to always transfer images straight from the card, if you havent a CF slot get an adapter. For image software use adobe bridge. You can download photoshop CS3 form a torrent site it will include bridge. Bridge is lightning fast for image transfer. Also if you use or start using raw you can get the raw plugin for free on the web.
