Check out whether you have removed the blue tape from its bottom head .from where the ink comes out for printing.

It seems this affliction is reported many times on the internet, new out of the box the black print head is bad.
1st run the cleaning utility on the driver CD.
then.
If it is in warranty call Hp and give them the info.
it is unlikely the print head is clogged or it would print some garbage.
If it is out of warranty. then feel free to take it out and clean and check/reseat the connections to the print head.
The paper handling jams are the next biggest complaint.

Why is my black ink not printing

Hi Colleen,

Try this > open a document (from the computer) and select print from the menu,
- In the print screen window select 'properties' Or 'Preferences' or 'Properties'

- In the next window click 'maintenance'

- In the next window there will be many options to clean, align, nozzle check etc... , there click 'Ink cartridge settings'.

- A small windows opens, there select black only. See the image

- try printing, if it fails to print, just return the cartridge to the shop and get a genuine branded one. (dont forget to change the 'ink cartridge settings to normal to 'both black and color')

Hope this help, if you are not able to fix it still, then better come to chat here , thanks! 10_22_2011_5_46_32_am.jpg

Hello,
Sounds like your print head may be faulty. If you can, get it replaced. This is caused by using recycled cartidges or faulty ink cartridge.

Thanks,

The blue cartridge is available to change. how do I access the black cartridge which I need to change?

Priners and scanners are quite fun.You have to open it up,press like you want to copy/print something. When the ink holder comes across, you just grab it and stop it from receding all the way back, but gently. Some really try hard to recede, most are not as hard and will easily stop.Change the cartridge just like the blue then do a test print or 2 to make sure it's in right and check for leaks. If it is going to leak,it would most likely do it right away if installed incorrectly, even though it pops in.Usually not a problem though.Just so you don't discover it too late,a good tech will double check.Greg

Printer only won't print in black

My printer did that a few months ago. I tried everything to get it printing black but in the end I had to take the ink cartridge back and return a new one. Some ink cartridges dry out when they are being shipped if not stored in proper conditions.

I bought new color cartridges, but the printer only prints in black and white or grayscale. Why won't the color show up?

check the print settings by going to printing preferences and check if the grayscale or black and white is the one that is selected
change it to color
also make sure that the color cartridge is properly snapped inside.
try printing a test page and see if all colors come on the printed page

let me know if you need any further assistance

Printer says ink cartridge not recognized.

Take the black ink cartridge back to the person who refilled it. The Microchip that's on the cartridge was not reset properly that's why the printer is returning that error.

You can try some steps before you take it to them to verify it.
1: reseat (take out and put back in) the cartridges into place
2: buy another black cartridge just to check if it will be recognized by the printer, if it does recognize it we know the cartridge is defective. If a new cartridge is also not recognize, start to check your warranty option with the manufacturer...

My Xerox DocuPrint M750 printer will not print black text but will print colour

This is just a suggestion. I recently bought a Staples refilled cartridge and had to return it because it did not work. When returning it the Staples Rep said that 50% of the cartridges do not work and get returned. This was an astounding amount I told the rep. Means nothing to him but to you, you may need to return the black cartridge if it is or is not a refill and try it out again. Let me know if that works.
