How many times does it flash.  I ask because some laptops have bios flash codes.

I had a similar problem on SatPro6100. Mine was LSSSLSSL (10010001).

Thinking that the laptop was buggered I decided I would take it apart and have a look at the insides.

Whilst it was apart I also disconnected the BIOS battery.

Couldn't find anything that looked like it had burnt out so put it all back together again.

When I turned it on again the darn thing was working fine!!!
Go figure!!

The whole thing was apart for about 2 hours or so.
I don't know if it was removing the main battery and leaving it out for that time or whether it was resetting the BIOS (by disconnecting its battery) that fixed the problem.

Anyway, I have managed to get all my data off the laptop so not too worried if it screws up again.

I do however always disconnect the power source BEFORE shutting down the laptop and only reconnect it after I have pressed the on button. Seems to be working fine (for now!)

Hope that helps someone out there!

    ps.
Forgot to mention, when I started it up again I was getting a CheckSum error so I went in to the BIOS setup, unset the turn on password and everything was working fine!

Why does my laptop keep restarting

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue restarting on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive boot up

test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive, SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem computers need power and data to travel

through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work

could be a memory dump you might have to many programs running at one time putting to much stress on the CPU not having enough ram will do this

might be getting to hot make sure the CPU has a dust free secure seating and has THERMAL paste

if you right click in the bottom toolbar select task manager applications you will see whats running also processes you will see whats ticking

over if you see something running that should not be select end now you might even uninstall that program and some unnecessary programs

check your computer ram and cmos battery to make sure they are securely seated some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

hope it helps

How do I remove my hard drive from my Toshiba Satellite R15-S829?

READ THIS ALL THE WAY THROUGH. REMOVE THE BATTERY AND POWER BEFORE ANY WORK IS DONE. HAVE ALREADY BACKED UP ALL YOUR DATA.

Toshiba Support Site warns not to try this at home.

User's Manual does not list HD removal.

That being said.....
this is the instructions for a P15-S479, but may be what you need.

Instructions:
The hard drive is located under the CD/DVD drive. Before you start taking apart the laptop, remove the battery and unplug the AC power.
1. You have to remove the CD/DVD drive. Turn the laptop over. Remove one screw right above the dive and slide the drive out of the laptop.
2. When the CD/DVD drive is removed, you’ll see a metal plate. The metal plate is secured by 4 screws. Remove them and lift up the plate from the bay. The hard drive is located right under the plate.
3. After you remove the plate, you’ll see the hard drive. The hard drive also secured by 4 screws. Remove the screws, slide the hard dire to disconnect it from the connector on the moterboard and lift it up.
4. You have to transfer the brackets from the old hard drive to a new hard drive. Also, if there is a foil shielding around the old hard drive, you’ll have to transfer it to a new hard drive too.
Here’s a disassembly guide with pictures: Toshiba Satellite P10/P15 laptops. How to remove the hard drive.

Remember the precautions and warranty information from Toshiba before you start. Try to have someone who is really into laptops before you begin

Good luck

ps: Other laptops have their HD's under the keyboard, or in a removable door on the bottom.

I was able to find drivers for this device which turns out to be an SD Card reader built into the laptop. Here is the site I found it on: http://www.toshiba.com/tai/support/support_cons.jsp
You'll want to click on "Computers and Accessories" on the left hand side, and then select "Laptop Computers".
Upon selecting the correct model, I found all the pertinent drivers for my laptop.
The Category, which is the middle column on the drivers page, is going to be something along the lines of "Driver Flash Memory SD" Az.
