It is a little hard to vapor lock a small Briggs & Stratton single piston engine. To get the carburator that hot the muffler on the tiller may be plugged up, causing the carburator to get too hot. There is a two piece muffler with a screen inside that gets plugged up when you run the tiller on some models. I finally got fed up and got a replacement muffler of a different design to solve the plugging problem. There is also a couple of tubes in the fuel tank with small screens that get plugged up also causing fuel starving to the engine. Also check and make sure the fuel tank cap vent is not plugged up. Good Luck, RAC

Vapor lock on Mantis

check the fuel lines for a breakage or the primer bulb for a crack. Sounds like it is sucking air instead of fuel

Honda gx25 tiller is locked up

Remove the starter assembly and check over, remove the spark plug and turn the motor by hand. If still locked up then likely internal and not worth repairing.

Motor seems to be seized

ensure that the motor oil in it was not presivation oil. some machines have a thick oil put in it to stop the engine rusting if stored for a long time this needs to be replaced before starting the engine. if the engine oil is dark and very thick this may be the case and the engine will need to be stripped to dislodge the piston. but that usually happens in a longer time than 10 seconds.
if not then suspect the motor has had some major mechanical failure such as a crank shaft break. remove the injectors or plugs to see if the motor will crank round without compression.

Have a troy bilt trimmer that starts fine but will die when you try to use it. I have put new gas and spark plug in it and cleaned the air filter. It acts like it's vapor lock. I use regular unleaded gas,...

If your gas is older than 30 days, go out and mix up some fresh gas mixture before going any further. Other wise it sounds like the carburetor needs rebuilding or adjusting.
Note: There may be alcohol in your gas and you may not know it.

How to take motor off frame troy built tiller

The easiest way is to first remove the drive belt , then on both sides you will see two bolts with locking nuts on them where the engagement lever raises the motor to tighten the belt. Back these bolts out , then have someone hold the motor while you work the rod out on each side that the motor slides up and down on. Oh if you have a bumper there are two bolts in the top of each one holding the bumper on to take out first. Hope this helps.

I have craftsmen 5HP rear tine tiller, while tilling picked up a rock which jammed the tines and stalled the motor. when i restarted it had loud grinding noise and then locked up stopping me from being able...

If the tiller tines where jammed, the tranny and motor where still trying to turn and there could be a couple different parts broken. The tranny main shaft make have busted, the tranny gears could have jammed. If the motor does start, than that is a good sign. If not than the connecting rod or crank may have snapped.

I am guessing you will probably have to dismantle the transmission and see if there are any broken gears or shaft.

Mantis tiller stop working. I was tilling my garden and it completely stop. I try to sart the tiller but the puller cord wouls not move. Took the pull cord top from motor the pull cord assembly was working...

OOOPS...this sounds bad, like a locked up motor. If it is a 2 cycle engine it is especially bad...and it probably is toast. Take it to a shop and have someone check it out, but doesn't sound good..Sorry
