Well there is more ways you can update your system if you have a ubs drive go to sony web page and go to playstation 3 and install the update on the remomavle usb but first you have to connect your usb to your computer and create a new fordel name it PS3 and then open this folder and created another folder and name UPDATE in this folder is where you have to download the update but make sure you name the folders using capital letters once you have the update ready go to system update and select update via remomable disk and follow the instructions thanks and good luck remember to rate my help thanks

try power cycling your router and modem, and if that doesn't do it somewhere in your system should be a menu to get to either in preferences or settings that "sets new IP address"

Am trying to connect to the internet on my ps3. I have a Linksys E1000 wireless router. I go through the step by step connection process and It keeps saying: "Obtain IP Address-Succeeded, Internet...

I got every solution in the book and tried them. I learned that the simplest solution is always the best. I was getting the same messages.

Make sure the "Media Server" on your PS3 is set on "disabled"

Make sure that UpNp is "disabled" on router. (I know that previous answer said opposit but I am just saying what worked for me).

The key really seemed to be disabling the media server. Try it and let me know. As I said, I tried all the complex solutions and think it was just the media server.

Cant connect to psn. But i can to internet. :(

One reason this may be happening is having the media sharing option on. Some routers can't handle all the requests the ps3 sends while having this option on. You're using a wireless connection right?

Ps3 error 80710723

This same problem happened to me awhile ago. The way I fixed it was I went under settings to network settings. Then went down to media server connection and disabled that. Once I did that I had no trouble at all updating games. Hope this helped :)

Cant get internet connection on my ps

first check wether you received a valid ip address for your local network. usually, this should be something like 192.168.x.y. if so, then you might indeed face a dns issue. dns is used to resolve web site names to ip address. usually, your ip service provider will broadcast the external dns servers for your router to recognize.

try to connect with a computer first. if it works, check the ip settings. if your computer also cannot connect without explicit dns server settings you can do one of the following:
- explicit dns server address in ps3. go to "advanced internet connection settings", and then to "dns settings" and set the dns server address
- purchase a 30$ network router and hook it between your internet and the ps3. in the router settings, set the dns server address to be broadcasted to the clients. you can use 168.126.63.1 and 2 which are dns servers in korea (i live in korea), but you might want to find the server near to your location or promoted by your isp
