Question about Onkyo TX-SR804 7.1 Channels Receiver
I have a question, and was wondering if this will work.
I recently bought a lcd tv, and a ps3. I also have a receiver which only has an hdmi out, not an in. I was wondering if it is possible to connect the ps3 to the receiver for sound, and to the tv through hdmi for video.
I guess the other question is if I'm just stuck either with no surround, or buying a new surround system? Thanks
Yes it would be possible to separate audio and video from your PS3. You would need to go to the PS3 setting for audio and choose Optical instead of HDMI. You would need to connect and Optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver. Then on the receiver you would need to set the digital inut for your source(PS3) to optical.

Ive got an easier way of oding it w/o going to ur ps3 settings. just hook the ps3 to the tv directly and run an optical cable from ur tv to the receiver. in that way u dont have to mess with the settings of ur ps3. enjoy! ü
