Test the fan by pressing the light switch on the door frame, it should come on. If door open, fan will be off. If fan does not come on you need to replace it. This is a simple repair and you can access the fanmotor from the back of the fridge by removing a couple of screws. Replacement fanmotors available at Sears. Rate me please.

What you should be looking for is a blocked air flow. The fan in the freezer will push air up to the fridge and cool it off. Look for a dead fan motor in the freezer or a blocked air vent Good luck

Lets begin by placing defrost timer into forced defrost. The defrost timer is inside the fresh food compartment and behind the control panel above the top shelf. Click Here=> 215846602 Defrost Timer

sea_breeze_274.jpg Try turning the timer clockwise slowly until you hear compressor and fans stop. Allow to remain here for 30 minutes. The timer if good should come out of defrost itself but if not it is a clear indication that the timer be replaced. You also should hear a crackling or sizzle coming from the freezer with door open. Also water should drain down to a condenstate tray below refrigerator into a tray that compressor fan warms to return back into air inside your home. If not timer causing the ice blocking airflow then we have the defrost heater and defrost thermostat to examine. They are located behind the rear panel inside freezer The=> 5317842502 Defrost Heater
sea_breeze_275.jpg

And also the Defrost Thermostat=> 216872200 Defrost Thermostat

sea_breeze_276.jpg Testing the defrost heater can be found here=> 5317842502 defrost Heater Testing
I have laid these parts out as the timer being the most likely reason for warm temps in fresh food and freezer. If you have any questions I will be here to answer them for you, If helpful please rate, Thank You, Sea Breeze

Every 20 minutes, my freezer would make a crackling like noise. What does this mean and how can I fix this?

Refrigerators are not the most complicated appliance in the house, but it still takes a lot of parts working together perfectly to keep your food cold. If one of those parts breaks down, or begins to, you may start to hear new noises from your refrigerator. Fridges make some noise during regular operation, but if it suddenly gets louder or makes a different noise, it is a good sign that something is wrong.

Freezer Fan
Freezers can be located on either side of the refrigerator, or may be at the top or the bottom of the unit. If you hear a noise coming from the area in which the freezer is located, you should open the freezer and see if the noise gets louder. Any squealing sounds coming from this area indicate a broken freezer fan. These units are not designed to be repaired, and eventually one making a loud noise will break and need replacement.

Condenser Fan
All motors typically require a fan in order to maintain a safe operating temperature. Like the fan in the freezer, the fan that runs on the condenser can also break down and create a similar squealing noise. The location of the fan noise is what differentiates the freezer and condenser fan problems. If you hear a fan noise coming from the lower part of the fridge at the rear, it is likely the condenser fan causing the problem.

Action to do
Open the freezer to see if the noise gets louder. If the noise becomes louder with the freezer open, the noise is likely caused by the evaporator fan. If the evaporator fan is the culprit, replace it to get rid of the noise.

Pull the refrigerator away from the wall, and check the condenser fan at the back of the fridge. A metal panel may cover the fan, which can be unscrewed. Listen to see if the fan is the source of the noise. If it is, the fan may need to be cleaned or replaced.

I hear a higher pitched solenoid buzzing for about 10 seconds every 30 minutes or so. It is a new sound and it seems to be coming from the lower right side of the fridge but I don't notice any...

is your ice maker hooked up?if no water is going to the ice maker and the arm is down it will buzz.also check the fans one in the freezer and one in the rear for the compressor and condenser, maybe a piece of paper is hitting the fan blade when the fan starts or it could be vibration in the frame, ytou can remove the bottom kickplate and you say every half hour or so it makes the sound and listen to see if you can pinpoint the noise, when you open the freezer door the evap fan will run,you can check that fan motor like that.you have to do a little detective work to find the noise but if the ice maker isn't hooked up to the water source and the arm is down it will buzz.good luck.

The bottom refrigerator don"t get cold. water was leapin on bottom shelf be fore it stop working. Thank you

Look for frost build up on the back panel in the freezer side. If there is then you'll need a defrost timer or heater. Also check to see if you can hear the fan running in the freezer, if not that's your problem...replace it. All the cold air comes from the freezer it needs the fan to get it to the fresh food side.

Freezer is working but refrigerater side is not

Hi!!

This could be due to few things, so let's start with the easy ones;

Check fridge temp. control.

Check fan in freezer (should come on if door is kept open a couple of minutes.) if fan does't come on,
or if weak (should come on strong), unplugg the unit and take back cover off, (should be 4 screws), test fan applying 110v AC to it, if defective, replace. If fan OK, check for iced up evaporator, if so, defrost using a heat gun or hair dryer, make sure air duct to fridge is clear of ice..

Adjust temp. settings according to manufacturer suggestion (wait 24 hrs. before adjustments)

Don"t forget to rate this post. Good Luck

Compressor not working

This is such a vague problem you are describing. Could be a number of things. However, I can give you some advice to help determine if its the compressor or not. Typically when compressors are not running, even though they are suppose to be, you can hear a "click" sound come from bottom back area of fridge. This "click" sound may be preceeded by a few second long hum or buzz, or it may just be a click every couple of minutes. If you hear that then you know the compressor is trying to run, but isnt. Also, make sure that when you open the freezer door you can hear the evaporator fan running. If that fan is not running, but the compressor is, then you have bad evap fan.

Food is defrosting in my hotpoint frost free fridge/freezer

Can you hear the compressor running? Is the fan inside the freezer running? It could be that a wire connection has come loose during the move. Was the fridge laid on it's side during the move? If so you probably have compressor oil restricting the refrigerant system. If compressor and fan are running you will probably need a qualified refrigeration tech to check it out.
