Question about Canon PIXMA iP1800 InkJet Photo Printer
If you have removed one of the cartridges then the printer will not print at all. you must have both cartridges in the printer at all times and both must have ink.

If the cartridge is new, probably the connector between head and cartridge is dirt. clean it using dry tissue and never touch by hand the metal plate

Possible causes are as follows:
• The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly.
• The FINE Cartridge may not be compatible with this printer.
Install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. If lines are misaligned or the resulting output
is not satisfactory, carry out the Print Head Alignment.
