Broken Hanger. Have taken the cushion off, unscrewed plate & pulled hanger ends out from ear piece. Have also unscrewed 4 screws from where swivel end enters the head band. But I'm unable to remove the swivel end from its 't' housing without fear of breaking wire?

You can go to Radio Shack and find some that fit. Although Sony does not sell them as they woudl ofcourse want you to purchase new ones you can buy third party cushions that fit.

SOURCE: Got no sound from the right earphone of my MDR-v500 headphones

It's actually quite easy to open up ... the pad just slips off, and its really easy to get back on and there is a set of three small t screws underneath that just need unscrewing and then you're inside

SOURCE: Hello there, pls help. i

Do the headphones work with any other devices? If so then it's the I-Pod socket that is faulty. Otherwise check out my tip on headphone problems. Just click my user name to find it.

I cut the cord in order to make the length shorter. i twisted them together and used electrical tape to insulate the attach point. i tried this several times, and im not even getting a broken signal.

No amount of comforting words is going to help you fix what you broke.

You might have some luck calling Sony to see if you could order a new cord.

Can I replace the ear cushions on a Sony MDR-V200 headset?

Hey--it was reassuring to see that I'm not the only one with this question. Lots of places (Staples, Radio Shack) have the right size replacements, but it takes a little more digging to be sure you can find something more than what looks like doughnut-shaped packing material. B&H Photo Audio does, and here's a link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/582208-REG/Pearstone_8091000_Replacement_Earpads_Pair.html

See my tip on dodgy cable/jack on headphones. If the jack is different to the one shown, you should be able to get it from Maplin (UK user) or Radio Shack (USA).

Jack replacement for mdr-v500 headphone

You don't need to look inside the plug... just open up the earcups and test the jack plug with a continuity tester.

But FYI, Red = ring, Green = tip.

How to Rewire Sony MDR-7506 headphones

Okay, cut and strip the cord. There should be two copper wires and (on Sony headphones, at least) a red and a green strand. On a new 1/8" jack, there should be three connections. The middle one is left, and is where the green one goes. The short one on the side is right, and is where the red one goes. The long bit is the common, and is where the copper one goes. Before you solder, however, remember which strand is which, because you have to sand or burn off the colored enamel. (Use a fine grain paper, or use a standard lighter or stick match- anything else might damage or melt the wire)
