Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
My computer loads fine all the way up to the log in screen once i press enter to bypass it...it freezes at my background..i have tried loading it in safe mode and safe mode with networking all to no avail can does anyone have any answers or knows someone who does?
Try Safe Mode then Last Known Configuration, but, that's just a shot in the dark because after you reboot then the last boot is your Last Known Configuration..the next step is to try Revovery Console. You put your Windows CD in and let it run for a few minutes. Eventually you will come to a screen that ask to setup or repair. Press R for recovery console. This will bring you to a DOS command prompt. At the command prompt type fixboot or fixmbr if fixboot does not work the first time. What has happened is your Master Boot Record which loads Windows is corrupt so the fixboot/fixmbr fixes the Master Boot Record. If that does not work then you'll have to reload the operating system. Have you made a backup of your docs, favorites, email lately? as a install will wipe it out...however if it gets to that point then let me know and maybe we can at least save some of the data.
Good Luck, let me know if you have any questions.

a clean installation
it is recommended to this service at least
once every 8 months, it wipes all your hard
drive from data, programs, bugs, errors and viruses
this will 100% solve your problem guaranteed.
for xp/ insert the installation disk
to be cleared you don’t need a specific disk made to your computer
if your coa says “Microsoft xp home or pro” then any windows home or pro
cd will do this the same apply to vista. So buy, borrow or download any OEM
not pirate version of the original operating system that is specified in your
Windows sticker. The oem cds can be found on ebay they should cost less
Than $10 or £10 do not buy the license version because your already have
The license underneath the laptop. “coa” is the sticker with the serial number
Which will be asked for in the middle of the installation.
restart the computer and a message will
come up asking to press any key to boot
from cd. once you do that "i mean you press a key"
then a blue screen will load then asks you
to press Enter to install xp.
1. press enter
2. select the partion and press enter
3. select continue "it warns you to delete files"
4. select format "quick"
5. now let it do the rest and follow instructions
6. when the installation is finished you'll notice
its like new again, some computers will need
drivers which you can get from manufacturer
website. download and install them.
that's it but for a detailed information click here
for vista here’s how click here

Step 1: Enter Safe Mode
Start or re-start your computer.
Before the Windows 7 loading screen appears, Press 'F8? to enter
Advanced Boot Options.
Use arrows to choose 'Safe Mode' when you can see the Advanced Boot
Press 'Enter' and wait for Windows 7 files to load.
Log on with an administrator account when you can see the log on screen
Note: Well, when you are presented with the
Advanced Boot Options screen, there are 3 types of Safe Mode. They are the Safe
Mode, Safe Mode with Networking and Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and the 3
options are all available for you. Here above we take Safe Mode as an example,
but if you choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt, you'll need to input related
to command prompt to reset the password.
Step 2: Reset the forgotten Windows login
password in Windows 7
Now you could diagnose and solve some serious
computer problems in the safe mode and reset the forgotten Windows login
password in Windows 7 as follows:
Click 'Start' button, input 'lusrmgr.msc' into the Search box and press
In the 'Local Users and Groups screen', click 'Users'.
Right-click the account that you need to reset the password for, and
then click 'Set Password'.
Type and confirm the new password, click 'OK'. (You can go to 'Local
Users and Groups' screen by right-clicking 'Computer' to select 'Manage' on
Step 3: Log on your password protected PC again with the new password since you have successfully performed Windows password reset for Windows 7.
