Hi..my name is Keith..and you didnt give me very much information about what kind of machine.tractor you have..but there will not be any power comming out of your distributer if the points are up on the cam and the points are open..but if the points are on the flat side of the cam..there should be voltage..if the points are on the flat ..and the points have no voltage the the points are either burnt or have arced and pitted and that means that the points and condensor needs replacing..i hope this has helped..if not with me back with further details and i will be glad to help you

You didn't say what year, make and model. Power to the distributer come from the ignition switch. Diagnostics is a fuse.

Honda civic eg8 ,no spark in distrubitor

so the wires from the dist. cap to the plugs are ran wrong? best way to get it right is to lay them out shortest to longest and go from there. Or is it an electronic dist. and its powered and ran from the wiring harness and ecu? because in that case, if you put in an aftermarket piece, you may need to flash over the ecu or get a piggy back so it and the dist. can talk to each other. hope that helps some.

1997 chevrolet blazer does not have spark in the spark plugs I already replaced the crankshaft sensor and still wont start

if it has a distributor, it is most likely the ignition module inside thats shot. call an auto parts store. and I think they can test them to be sure if its bad or not. check the cap and rotor also ! you can turn dist. a bit if timing is off. theres a hold down bolt underneath dist just loosen it. just so you can turn it to where it runs the best! then tighten and try it. if not the module. make sure power is going to dist. also make sure dist. shaft is turning, in dist. hope this helps.

Code 11 1985 dodge 600 turbo does the dist. signal

Quite often "hall effect pick-up" in distributor is problem . Remove distributor cap and rotor and you'll see the round plate with wire harness/plug to it. motor1258_29.jpg

There is no power going to the dist cap. I put a new coil in but this did not fix it. The spark plugs will not fire. Everything works but the plugs will not fire. The engine just turns. Ichecked the wires...

U have a power wire that has been breached ur gonna have to check continuity to ur power wire at the coil and dist hook one lead to the fuse that supplies power and other lead to to same circuit under hood at coil repeat step with all wires on coil and dist just to be sure.
