Question about EliteGroup P4M890T-M2 (V1.0B) Motherboard

1 Answer

I restarted my PC the other night, and now it doesn't recognize any external peripherals (USB/PS2). I've tried other keyboards that I know work, and I also did the same with the mouse, switching from USB to PS2 inputs and visa-versa. And no I didn't change ANYTHING in the BIOS or the system settings, Bad MoBo???

Dear Sir,

Here is Some Hints to solve your problem.
1.Check the Bios your PS2 ports are enabled,if disabled enable it.
2.Go to the device manager see your PS2 keyboard Driver enabled or not.If disabled enable it.
4.Finally Check your computer with new keyboard.

if all these are correct... you still have a problem
Deffinately there may be a problem with PS2 port of your computer motherboard,Then only one option is remaining, you can use USB to PS2 Converter Cable,Or a USB Keyboard.
If you have any other query post a comment with more information regarding the problem.I will try to assist you more accurately

Hi!

To determine wether it is a hardware (keyboard itself) or an OS problem, plug an external keyboard to your laptop (you didn't mention the manufacturer or model of your laptop, but even if it doesn't have a PS2 connector, it has almost for sure an USB connector to plug the keyboard in).

Now, if the external keyboard works OK it means no OS problem.

Hope it helped.

The pc does not recognize the key board and won't let me type. I have even tried a new Dell keyboard...same problem

Ok I am going to assume that you are using a keyboard with a PS2 plug. Try using a USB keyboard. If the USB keyboard does not work check and see if other USB accessories work.

If you are using a device with a PS2 type plug you should check the drivers for PS2 keyboards by opening control panel then click the "system" icon, then the "Hardware" tab, then "Device Manager"

If you are seeing a yellow exclamation mark then the device driver should be uninstalled. it should automatically reload when you reboot. If the PS2 port is bad you will need to have it serviced by a competent technician.

USB Keyboard and mouse wont work with PS2 KVM with adapter

Have you tried rebooting once it is connected? Not sure if it makes a difference, but I know you can not hook up PS2 peripherals without rebooting.

Mad cats mc2 with pedals

The easiest way to do this is to go online and order a PS2 controller to PC adapter on amazon.com or some other site. I have a Madcatz MC2 and a Ps2 controller to PC adapter (a cheap one -_-") and it works okay (I'm having a lot of trouble with the pedals though).
