Question about HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My HP Officejet 6310 makes a squealing noise when printing, like the roller needs oiling-any suggestions on what to do?

I have the same problem. I have an HP officejet 5510 all-in-one. Upon close inspection, it looks like the problem might be with a roller. Now before I go on I should state that I am in no way trained for working on these things so don't take anything I say to the bank.

In the printing area there are 4 rubber rollers about a half inch in diameter, then there is a metal roller for each rubber roller, about the thickness of a toothpick. The metal/rubber roller combos roll against each other when it feeds the paper. One of the metal rollers looks like it either has the plating worn off of it or there is some kind of build-up on it. I tried to clean it with tape head cleaner but didn't seem to do much. The printer works fine (aside from the loud squeal) and I have had it for several years but it would **** to have to replace it just for such a small part that probably costs very little.

Turn off the printer..connect the printer to wall outlet..and try to make a copy..if its still the same..perform these steps..
1)unplug the power chord from the back of the printer..
2)press and hold OK and CANCEL button together..
3)while pressing these two buttons plug in the power chord to the back of the printer..
4)after you plug in the power chord do not release those two buttons..
5)keep pressing those two buttons till the screen goes blank..
6)once the screen is blank release the buttons and turn on the printer..
7)wait for the printer to get initialize..
8)once the initialization is complete..try to make a copy..if the printer is still making noises..then machine should be replaced..
let me know after you perform these steps

Open the HP Photosmart Software on a Windows computer
1. Do one of the following:
– On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon.
– In the system tray at the far right of the Windows taskbar, double-click the
HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon.
– On the taskbar, click Start, point to Programs or All Programs, select HP,
and then click HP Solution Center.
2. If you have more than one HP device installed, select the HP All-in-One tab.
Note On a Windows computer, the features available in the HP Solution
Center vary depending on the devices you have installed. The HP Solution
Center is customized to display icons associated with the selected device. If
the selected device is not equipped with a particular feature, then the icon for
that feature does not display in the HP Solution Center.

From here, you can scan, make copies, and perform maintenance procedures such as checking the ink levels for the print cartridges.

Master Reset

I don't have a 6310 but I do have 4 printers one of which is a 5610. I never bothered w/ a reset switch because I would just turn the printer off, then unplug everying for 2min. Then I would reconnect everything back. If it doesn't work, I suggest you uninstall the software and reinstall it again. Let me know if this helps.

HP 2100 makes squealing noises

It could be a roller, a drum, sometimes the auger in the cartridge can do it.

Should have a technician look at it to find specifically where it is comming from.
