If you have the old toilet removed and are looking at the flange - the piece that holds the bolts to hold toilet down- measure off the back wall to the center of the opening of the flange. If the old toilet is still installed you can measure on one side to the closet bolts holding the toilet down and this will get you a general idea.If you need more assistance let me know. Will 3" sanitary pipe be sufficient for the kohler k3427 toilet?

Yes it should be fine, go to Kohlers website and check the rough-in dimensions to see what size the waste hole is on the toilet usually 2 3/8 to 21/2. If it says 3 inch you might just need an adapter ring.

Well the rough-in of the wc is the measurement from the wall to the center of the drain opening take that measurement and go to your local plumbing warehouse and ask them to look up any and all wc with that rough-in and pick one you like. If there are non you like or there is non with that rough-in then I see no other way then to move the drain to fit the one you like.
There are some offset closet collars out there but if you are working a cement for it would be just as easy to move the drain.

The plumbing under the slab floor has been roughed in wrong and without breaking up the floor and replaceing you cann adjust the floats in the pump pitr to come on earlier to avoid pit filling up as fast causing the waste to back up in the tub/ shower area.

Do you think saniplus would be compatable with this toilet http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170533516585&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:GB:1123

The toilet that the Saniplus uses is a rear discharge toilet, the spigot is 3" ID and 4" OD from center line of spigot of the toilet to the floor is 7 1/2". If the toilet you chose has those dimensions then it will work ok.

Do the saniflow toilet need to be plumbed in to mains waste? I have a patient who needs a toilet located outside the house that needs to be trouble free

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

In short yes it will need plumbed with a smaller drain line to the home waste drain.

The unit uses a fast-rotating blade to reduce waste and toilet paper in the flush water, which is immediately and entirely released under pressure through "small-diameter piping" to the sewer or septic tank. No special maintenance is needed and the pump is sealed for life. This simple and cost-effective alternative to conventional plumbing is ideal for basement renovations and other home-improvement projects. Properly sized, a Saniflo macerating system can handle all the fixtures in a bathroom, including the sink, shower, tub and toilet & endash; even on a septic system. What's more, these fixtures will work up to 12 feet below and as far as 150 feet away from a septic tank or sewer line.

Go to this page and download the manual for the installation instructions:

http://www.saniflo.com/Downloads.aspx

These are all the installation downloads available on that page:

That is a rough in dimension. If you make it to close ,it will make it hard to connect the flex line, and may end up kinking the linethen you'll have poor or no water flow to the ballcock

You can buy valves and fittings at Home Depot and other repair stores that do not require any torching. They only require tightening. Measure the widths of the lines going into and out of the valve and go to the store and tell them that you want a compression fitting valve with the appropriate dimensions. Good luck!

Looking to buy/install Toto Aquia II in my circa 1964 co-op apt.

When you say 10.5 inches from wall, do you mean that from the center of the drain in the floor to the back wall is 10.5 inches? If so, you need a toilet for a "10 inch rough-in" dimension. The Aquia doesn't come in that dimension. Sorry!

Caroma Sydney Smart model 270 comes in a 10 inch rough-in and is a dual flush model. Note that all dual flush toilets are fairly expensive as compared to normal toilets. HOWEVER, genrally speaking, ALL 10 inch rough-in toilets are fairly expensive just because the low volume that are sold.

Toilet - 14 inch rough in

Hrm, I see what you mean and this may be a bit late.

The 14" rough in is not standard (as in 12") and the depth (from the back of the tank to the front edge of the bowl is your concern here?).

Kohler also has a Sterling brand with the Windham model. This will sit on the 14" rough and measure less than 30" from the back wall.

You could also go with a Toto ($$$ concerns) as they have a unifit system that allows for adjustment from your roughed in closet/toilet flange. It basically mounts to your flange and then sets back 2" or 4" depending on which model Toto toiler you are installing. The Soiree-?sp may be your best bet for depth concerns, but not so good for your wallet.

What is the diference of 12'' rought or 10''on a installation

if you have a 10" rough in your house you can not install a 12" rough toilet. but if you have a 12" rough in your house you can install a 10" rough you would just have a 2 inch gap between the toilet and the wall.

the rough is measured by measuring the middle of the sewer hole. that your toilett sits on. to the back of the wall this is important because the tank sits behind the toilet. if the tank is too big then the toilet wont fit over the sewer hole.
your house shouldnt have a 10 inch rough unless its about 90 to 100 years old most home's now days go off a 12" to 14" rough.

if you do have an old home you can order any 10" rough toilet at a plumbing supply store. or lowes. they probably wont carry them in stock though because 100 year old houses aren't very common
