Question about Teac Audio Players & Recorders

Teac AG-V8525 Stopped producing sound. Has legend says "protect"

My Teac AG-V8525 was working fine. Then all of the sudden one day, I turned it on and the display showed "PROTECT" and no sound from anything. It is like the unit is frozen. I called Teac and they told me it is the speakers, and/or the speaker wires. I checked both and they are fine. Nothing wrong with the speakers or the wires. Any assistnce would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Tony

Hit reset button back of receiver

I had volume up too loud when I switched from an input with no sound to FM. The speakers took the sound less than a second and then no sound. Of course, I can't find the manual. The speakers checked out OK. But, the reset button did the trick. Thanks.

Didn't do the trick for me. Still "Protect" after several resets. It happened without apparent cause; same speakers and wires for over a decade, and nothing has been moved nor changed.

Why does my Teac ag h500 keep saying protect?

Hi. Unfortunately the protection circuit is saving your speakers from a fault, most likely one side of the amplifier in the unit is defective.

This needs an engineer.

My teac ag-790a 'protect' error message on display. When I brought it to the audio shop for repair it worked fine; at home again the same problem? What is the problem? Tx.

Hello
Check the putput wirings to speakers. If any of them has short circuit, the set will go to protection mode. You can understand it well, as it did worked fine at the repair shope. The set has no fault at all, but the wirings, connects to it have.
Just power ON the set at your home, without connection any output or input to it. See, it will not show any protection mode display. Switch it OFF. Connect the output to speakers, one at a time, and switch ON the set. Just do it for all other speakers. This way, you can find out, which speaker line causes the set to go to protection mode. Fine out the reason.
Never connect any input to the system, until works fine with out showing any protection display.
I helped you somewhat fine, I assumes.
Ok.

You have to enable them and turn the volume on them up separately with the speaker config, level trim, and up/down select buttons on the remote. You can also adjust the rear speaker delay time or just hit the test tone button and adjust the volume on each speaker separately as it goes through them one at a time...

My TEAC AG-7D turns on for about a second but then turns off

There is a problem in the final stages of the amplifier section that the protection circuits are detecting. They then shutdown the unit to prevent further damage. The most likely candidates are the output transistors. This is a relatively simple repair for an audio shop. Expect a parts cost between $20-$45.

Keeps blowing fuse.

Dissconnect ALL speakers from back of unit then try to turn on.
If it works you have a speaker short.
If not, you have a more serious problem.
DO NOT replace the fuse with anything else but what was specified, as it can cause a fire!

Protect displaying

Protect on any reciever usually means that it has reached its maximum capacity of volume (known as clipping) and at the reciever is now automatically reducing the volume to avoid damage. This some times is triggered if the reciever was used hard and is now damaged so you would need to bring it to a repair shop. Sometimes its caused by a bad wire to the speakers, a short to say. Check all your wiring, make sure its not overheating and getting plenty of air. Some where its recieving a signal telling it to go into protect mode.
