Cant get wireless Keypad to Link to new Garage Door Opener

We recently replaced our old craftsman garage door openers with new 1/2 hp Craftsman openers.  We didnt purchase the one with the wireless keypad since we already had one for the previous garage door (they are all craftsman so we figured they would work).  Now I cant get the new garage door opener to link to the wireless keypad.  I know I am doing it right because I have changed the code (before we replaced the garage door opener) and it worked just fine.  Shouldn't all craftsman products be able to be linked?

I have an old craftsman 1/2 hp door opener. It

You may have a bad wall control. Try disconnecting it from the opener and try. Otherwise it is time for a new model.

Craftsman 1/2hp garage opener Homelink must be under unit to work

Have you tired reprogramming the remotes to the opener?

The opener receiver board may have failed, which happens. You can order a new one from Sears or other places on the Internet, and they are fairly easy to replace.

Once replaced, you will need to program the receiver to you remotes again.
