You should not recheck BP until at least 15 minutes after the first check because it will always get higher on reading even with a manual BP machine. As a retired nurse I have both an automatic HoMedics which I I lost the manual for and a old type arm BP cuff. My automatic is pretty close to the other cuff in readings so I know it is close. Try waiting for a while before you recheck and not talk or move around when you take it.

How do I check compression in each cylinder

remove all the plugs. have the throttle stuck wide open so as to get max air flow. Insert a compression gauge into each cylinder in turn and crank over about six times or until the needle stops moving up. Record the reading and move onto the next cylinder and repeat the operation. when finished with all cylinders, get an oil can and squirt oil into each cylinder ( about 3 pumps on the plunger will do) retest the cylinders as before and record the new readings. adjacent cylinders with a difference of 10% indicate a blown head gasket. one cylinder low indicates a valve problem. with the oil readings, if there is no increase in readings --worn rings/cylinder damage. If there is a cylinder still low = broken ring or cylinder damage. Ensure that the battery is in good condition to spin the engine fast for best results

the crankcase is filled with fuel from a leaking carburetor float (would be LOTSSSSS of smoke) OR Bad crankcase seal and its sucking in air, bad reed cage area seal, exhaust plugged up!

Light came backm on

sensor two (downstream) is an O2 sensor that measures O2 content in the catalytic converter, it has no effect on drivability, but if the car runs well, you probably have some sort of exhaust leak before that sensor. If it runs bad, you may have a clogged cat. Also, check with a scanner that does Data reading to see if that sensor is basically giving the same readings, not varying millivolt readings from about .1 to .9 volts like the upstream sensors.

I take 4 consecutive readings (within a minute) and get 4 widely varying readings. How do I get an accurate reading with this device?

4 consecutive readings in a minute? No wonder you're getting widely varying readings. Your wrist or arm is not having time to recover from the constriction of the cuff. Try doing only two and waiting at least 30 to 40 seconds in between.

The best way to do it, is take one reading in your left arm and the other in your right arm. If they match or are within a few points of each other, the cuff is probably accurate.

Also, on your next visit to your doctor, take your cuff with you. After they take your vital signs at the doctors office, properly apply your cuff and compare your cuff's reading with theirs. If they are within a few points of each other that's fine.

Wide variability in readings taken within a ten-minute span on same patient. From 122/95 to 104/55 same patient, different arms. Patient being monitored for hypotension.

Time between readings must be enough to allow circulation in the arm reaches steady state again, or else if readings are close to each other, each subsequent reading is lower than preceding ones due to previous pressing the arteries and limiting blood circulation. 5 min is good enough time between readings and averaging. Massage the arm before next reading.
