Laptop has error message saying ''Insert 'PanoStandAlone' disk and click OK.'' I don't have any such disk. Learned that PanoStandAlone is an HP program, but they have been unable to help me. Laptop is trying to install this program and will not let me turn the computer OFF, or install any other programs while this status ensues and I have tried everything I can think of to get rid of it to no avail. THANKS!!

HP recovery disks don't boot!

Sounds like you need a windows vista operating system disc. The recovery discs set your system back to factory settings like when you first brought it home from the store. But to me, the system is bloated with all the software and trial junk that you don't need. If you can get your hands on a Vista Operating System Disc, then do a clean install from it. Just make sure your Certificate Of Authentication (COA) sticker is readable so that you can activate the vista once you've got it loaded. If you can't get your hands on a system disc, take it to a computer repair shop, I would think you could find one that will load the operating system for $60 or less.

I have an HP Xp laptop that is not loasing any programs when I turn it on. The screen says, " a disk error occured, Use cont, alt, del, to restart. After I do this the same message comes on. What is...

The computer cannot read your copy of Windows from your disk-drive.
So, you get the "disk-error" message.

Take your computer to a qualified technician for professional trouble-shooting.

GETTING ON MY LAPTP: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

This error message can be caused by a faulty connection to the hard drive or a faulty hard drive or a faulty disk controller.
Go into the BIOS configuration to see if it has detected the hard drive, if it is not detected that is why the laptop won't bootup.
To confirm or check if the hard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port (you may need assistance from a computer savy friend).
If this computer cannot see this as an external drive then it is faulty. If the computer can see this drive as an external drive and you can open the folders and files on the hard disk then the hard drive is OK and the fault is probably a faulty disk controller on the laptop. A faulty disk controller is part of the motherboard and the only fix is a replacement motherboard. This may not be a cost effective solution and it may be better to put your money towards a new laptop.

I can't log onto my laptop

The error message means that system cannot see your hard drive and therefore can't recognize the operating system.
The fix can be simply just re-seating the hard drive or a more serious problem - a faulty hard drive or worse still a faulty disk controller.
You can remove the hard drive and insert it into a USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. This computer will see this as an external hard disk if hard drive is OK and you will be able to view the contents of this drive. (And this means you have a faulty disk controller on the motherboard.)
If you cannot see the hard drive then it is faulty and you can purchase a new hard drive and install it in the laptop and install Windows on this hard drive to get the laptop operational again.
