Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hello expert, We are having a new kitchen floor laid and the contractor moved the Whirlpool dishwasher out to lay the floor under. Since it was replaced into it's normal under the counter spot, green "clean" light flashing in succession with a brief stop then starts again. Not really bothered as long as it worked, but of course it doesn't work - What do you suggest?? P.S. Had a problem app. 2 years ago when someone backed into the control panel, also ceased working and repairman charged exorbitant to "supposedly" replace computer board

Someone grabbed the control panel and knocked it around or flexed it whist moving it in and out of your counter.

Either the PCB board behind the little buttons flexed and cracked, or the ribbon cable that connects the PCB board to other componets inside there has puled loose...

Drainage pump appears blocked. All filters and pipes are clear. Where &how do I acess the pump

you will have to provide the make and the model number of the dishwasher. Generally the pumps are at the base. You will have to disconnect the unit and drag it out on the floor. The access to the pump can be obtained by laying the dishwasher on the side. make sure there are few towels around to avoid flooding the kitchen floor.

What type of dishwasher do you have? Has your kitchen floor flooded? If it has. The tray under dish washer isn't water tight. Moisture creates some unusual problems. Some of newer dish washer the there control panel under the top of door this also create problem especially if the switches are on the top of the door. Another moisture problem. I have repaired a new Electrolux dish was three times in less than 6 months. The floor would flood from the Maytag side load washing machine. The Madam of the house didn't tell me that the washing machine flooded the kitchen floor. No window in the door and sometime fill water solenoid would stick and fill the tube. When they open washing machine door, 12 gallons of water would spill. So I fix both of them. GB...stewbison

I have a Whirlpool integrated dishwasher ADG 7560/1. Can you tell me if there are any points where it should be screwed to my kitchen unit sides or surface to stop it moving when I open the door. Thank...

There should be two metal tabs on top of the exterior cabinet that you use to screw the dishwasher to the underside of the kitchen counter top. The feet are also adjustable on most models so they are not only level, but also to make the unit fit better inside the access opening under the cabinet where it is installed.

Are you draining the unit in the basement or under the kitchen sink?

If you are draining the unit to the floor you will need a new drain hose with a syphon breaker. This drain hose is factory installed on all new LG dishwashers.

The part # is AEM69493801
This is a known issue and may be covered under your factory warranty.

Depending on where you live a factory service tech may be in your area.

Could you explain the second problem further...Hard time shutting down?

Shoot me a E-mail @ omaharox@msn.com.
I am a LG factory service technician not a sub contractor.

Leaks when being unloaded

I may not have the full solution here, but to avoid (expensive) sub-floor damage, I recommend you do the following.  Assuming that the water is not coming from some dripping between the opened door at the hinge....
-Remove the kick plate that is in the bottom, front of the dishwasher.
Use a flashlight to look for wet flooring.  Run the dishwasher with the kick plate removed, watching for leaks/dripping.  It is possible for a leak to seep under the floor.  If leaking is found, do not ignore it.  Pull the dishwasher, fix the leak or replace the dishwasher.  Remove the first layer of sub-floor under the dishwasher, looking for deeper damage.
You should probably do the same with the carpeted area.  Pull the carpet back and decide if the sub-floor needs to be replaced.  A flooring expert should probably inspect.
Sorry to be such an alarmist, but I have been around floor damage that was unnoticed and ignored.
