User cannot print on both sides

The user guide I read said to open printer driver to tell it to print on both sides of the paper. The user tells me he cannot open the printer driver due to access restrictions.

Friend,

The easiest solution to this is to ask the system admins at customer's place to install another driver for this printer - but with other settings - allowing duplex printing. The user can then chose the drivers he needs without having to open them for reconfiguration.

I've had the printer for about 18 months with no problems. I need to print envelopes for the first time, and can't figure out how to do it. Any help out there?

Load the envelope against the right side of the back paper tray.
Load with the address side facing UP and the rear flaps DOWN on the left.
Pinch the Paper Guide and slide it against the left side of the envelope.
Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the right, return to the left after finishing printing.
The Paper Thickness Lever is located inside where the paper come out of printing.
Specify the settingin the printer driver.
Select Envelope in Media Type
Select DL Env. or #10 Env.
Select Landscape in Orientation.

The printer keeps telling me it's out of paper, which it isn't

1> Open the sheet feeder cover and pull out the paper support.

Set paper, aligning the right edge of the paper to the cover guide with the paper's print side facing up.

Pinch and slide the paper guide to the paper's left side.

Note: Make sure to set paper lengthwise. Setting Credit Card sized paper long-side down by mistake may cause a paper jam.

Pull down the paper output tray supporting with both hands.

    Pull out the extension completely.

Ensure that the Power lamp and the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp light.

Note: If the Cassette lamp lights, press the Paper Feed switch to light the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp.
If the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp does not light even after pressing the Paper Feed switch, Paper Source in the printer driver may be set to the setting other than Paper Feed Switch.

I have a Brother MFC 240C. After I removed paper from a paper jam the printer reads: Print unable 50. See Trouble Shooting and Routine Maintenance chapter in User's Guide. I tried to look this up on...

You may encounter a paper jam while working with your Brother printer. You need to be cautious while feeding the paper to your printer. Paper jams are often obvious, but you might come across a situation when you do not get any indication that the paper has jammed up the printer. In such cases, you need to open your printer and visually inspect it to search for the jammed paper. If the rollers of your printer are leaving marks on the printouts, then there is a need to clean them. Using chemical cleaners such as benzine, thinner, or alcohol to clean the rollers might prove hazardous to your printer.

That error is a carriage travel error, the printhead is not moving freely. Most often paper scraps either on the extreme right side where the printhead parks, or on the extreme left side where it's hard to see.

    Printing

    Dear jamin4volks;

As per this excerpt from the Oki B4350 User manual:

"FACE UP AND FACE DOWN PRINTING
For face down printing, make sure the rear paper exit tray is closed (the paper exits from the top of the printer). The paper exit bin on the top of the printer stacks printed pages face down, capacity 150 sheets of 20 lb. paper. Pages printed in reading order (page 1 first) will be sorted in reading order (last page on top, facing down).

For face up printing, make sure the face up rear paper exit tray is open and the paper guide is extended if required. In this condition, paper will exit via this path, regardless of driver settings. Paper is stacked in reverse order, capacity 50 sheets of 20 lb. paper.

Always use this tray and the manual feed tray for heavyweight stocks to reduce the possibility of paper jams."

This manual is available at http://my.okidata.com/mandown.nsf/(MOC-B4350)/BE70FCAF93D577E285256E89005052F9?OpenDocument

    Hope this helps;

    Changing Paper Size

If the blue guide in the back of the tray (called the length plate adjuster) is broken or dislodged, the machine may not recognize what size paper is installed. When the guide is moved, three arms on the right side of the paper tray change configuration. Those arms push against sensors in the machine to tell the printer what size paper is in the tray. You can temporarily resolve this by taping the guide in the A4 position, however you should consider replacing the tray or replacing the guide soon to avoid tape getting into the printer.

    Hope this helps!

Toner Does Not Adhere to any Type of Labels

You need to specify that you are using labels in the printer properties, so the printer raises up the fuser temperature for printing on labels.

If you have the user guide, instructions are on page 28, chapter 5.

    If not, here's how:

    1. Open the straight-through output door.
    2. Open tray 1 and adjust the media guides to the width of the media.
    3. Load media in tray 1. Make sure that the top of the media is forward and the side to be printed on
    (rough side) is facing up.
    4. Open the printer Properties (or Printing Preferences in Windows 2000 and XP).
    5. On the Paper/Quality tab or the Paper tab (the Paper Type/Quality tab for some Mac drivers),
    choose the correct media type.
