Refresh Rate, the reason why it works in safe mode and not normal mode is because in safe mode the system only loads the most basic and reliable drivers and sets the screen resolution and rate to their default values. In safe mode right-click on the desktop and go to properties, go over to the tab Settings and click Advanced. You should see another tab that says Monitor, there you can change your Hz, change it to something like 60hz to be on the safe side.

SOYO DYLM24E6 DISPLAYS OUT OF RANGE WAS TOLD MONITOR HAS A RESET BUTTON IF SO WHERE OR IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS MONITOR IT IS NEW

Restart your computer in Safe Mode
(or reconnect your previous monitor).

Set the screen-resolution to 800 by 600 at 60 Hertz.
Shutdown, connect the new monitor, and restart, and your Soyo monitor will be able to display something, using these "NOT-out-of-range" values.

Try changing the resolution to 1024-by-768, or 1280-by-1024,
and "test' these values, to see what values are "in-range" for your new monitor.

You probably have tried this, but make sure monitor is set to correct display... i.e., Analog or Digital

Also, try starting in safe mode and verify Monitor is able to handle the display settings resolution

I am having problems with fickering display

Your PC is overdriving the monitor and it is protecting itself from harm.
Start in SAFE mode (press F8 wile booting) and SAFE mode to see if it works in Windows DEFAULT setting. Then Reboot and readjust to something sensible (1280*1600, 32bit, 60Hz)

My guess is that MSoft pushed a patch or SP to your box and IT replaced the dll your monitor was using.

Goto mfg and DL and reinstall the correct drivers again

Good Luck!

Let me know if this fixes it

Monitor problems

It seems that you are trying to use a graphic mode that your monitor doesn't support.

Restart windows in safe mode, go to Control Panel. Click on Display. Select settings and change to a resolution that is supported by your monitor (I don't know your model, but 1024x768 is a safe bet).

Restart the computer.

It should be working by now.

Good luck!

Out of scn range

Linda,

This simply means that the resolution you have set is beyond the display capabilities of the monitor.

If you can see a visible picture on the monitor, it is likely that you either have the "Generic vga/svga monitor" driver installed or an improper driver.

This can be easily resolved by simply going to the website for your monitor's manufacturer and downloading the right driver for your model of monitor and install it.

If you can't find the website for your Monitor's manufacturer, please post BRand and model info here and I will try to direct you there.

If you DON'T have a viewable display this is how to solve it.

When booting up the pc you'll see POST information flash on the screen or a company logo once this flashes off then push and hold <F8> and you should get a startup screen with several options

The one we want is "Start in Safe mode" select that
Once you have booted up into safe mode, open the display properties screen and change your resolution to something a bit lower (Almost all modern monitors can display 800X600 at a refresh of 75Mhz) so this may be a good place to start. Apply your changes and reboot.

Now you should be able to adjust your display settings to either the maximum displayable setting for your monitor. If you should change the setting and the monitor becomes unviewable (be careful not to push any keys and wait) the screen should change back after 12 seconds unless you confirm the change.

Hope this helps you,
Dave

Monitor not displaying

Sounds like your video adapter settings have been wedged. If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, you can use the following steps. 1) Boot the laptop into safe mode. Boot into safe mode with networking support if possible. This can be done by tapping the F8 key as the computer first turns on. 2) Once you are at the Desktop, right click on My Computer and select Manage. 3) In the window that appears, select Device Manager from the menu on the left. 4) Find Display Adapters on the right and click the plus sign. This will list the video adapter that you have. NOTE: WRITE this down EXACTLY. You may need to go and get drivers for this. Seeing this is an older model, I doubt you'll need it, but better to be safe then sorry. 5) Go to your manufacturers support web site and download these drivers. You may not need them, but better to be safe then sorry. NOTE: Skip step 5 if you did not boot with network support or cannot get to the Internet. This can be done from normal mode. 6) Right click on the display adpater and choose un-install. Hit OK on the window that appears and reboot the machine when the process is done. 7) The machine will take longer than usual to boot, as Windows XP is re-discovering the video adapter and resetting everything to the defaults. When it is done booting, the screen may look weird since the settings are now the defaults. You can the set them to what you want by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties. Then go to the settings tab. 8) IF it did not re-discover the video adapter (this can be confirmed through the device manager), then go ahead and install the drivers. Windows Update will most likely also have the drivers.
