My HP A735W is turning on but stays in power save mode and no key board or mouse function

I think the issue is your monitor. If the monitor constantly says Power Save Mode and not let anything else display then the monitor might be bad. See if we can isolate the problem by the steps below.

Try booting up in Safe Mode and see if the monitor works ok.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. If it works ok in safe mode then the monitor is ok and we might have an issue with a setting.

Try connecting another monitor to your computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor works ok, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same thing as your original monitor then the issue is with the computer (possibly the video card).

I try to change my computer monitor settings but they won't change. why?

You should be able to click Start/Control Panel and then look for Display or Display and Personalization. When it opens up select the Settings tab and click on 1 to select your lcd display. There should be two numbers 1 for lcd and 2 for external monitor.

You might be able to do it by keystrokes on your keyboard. Normally you can Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard, then hit the key that toggles the display. The key that toggles the display will normally have LCD/CRT on it or it might have the icon of a display. It toggles between 3 modes (LCD Only, CRT Only or Both LCD and external CRT).

You could try reinstalling your Video Drivers but you would need to be in Safe Mode With Networking to give you internet connectivity. When it boots up open your internet browser and download and install the Video Drivers.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Dell Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Video drivers.

If all fails you could do a System Restore to a Restore Point (date and time) before you started having the problem. Don't worry, System Restore does not delete any of your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was installed after the Restore Point you selected).

Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore then select a date and time (Restore Point) that was before you started having problems.

I just have a OPTIPLEX SX280 and try to connect to my old montor (VGA), when I turn on power it seem run starting but the it show up on monitor screen "can not display video mode". What is that...

When you first power on the computer tap the <F8> key to bring you to a menu that has the option of running in safe mode. If the computer boots up in safe mode and you are able to see the display on your monitor then your current video drivers are not supported for the old monitor.

Please restart your computer and tap the F8 key as soon as you see something on the screen. You should get the advanced boot menu. Select Safe Mode from the list. Let me know if you were able to boot ot safe mode.

Refresh Rate, the reason why it works in safe mode and not normal mode is because in safe mode the system only loads the most basic and reliable drivers and sets the screen resolution and rate to their default values. In safe mode right-click on the desktop and go to properties, go over to the tab Settings and click Advanced. You should see another tab that says Monitor, there you can change your Hz, change it to something like 60hz to be on the safe side.

Only accessing the internet on safemode

Do a System Restore in Safe mode choose a date way before this problem started. If that does not work. Go back in safe mode with networking. Download Malwarebytes (you could just search this one in google.) Once that is downloaded do an update after which do a full system scan.

Computer stays blank after i log on

Your PC is set to a resolution incompatible with your monitor - so it cannot display.

Start in SAFE mode (press F8 wile booting) and SAFE mode to see if it works in Windows DEFAULT setting. Then Reboot and readjust to something sensible (1280*1600, 32bit, 60Hz)

My guess is that MSoft pushed a patch or SP to your box and IT replaced the dll your monitor was using.

Goto mfg and DL and reinstall the correct drivers again

1 other possibility... your PC is sending video out the back VGA port. Look at your keyb topmost row for LCT/CRT, INT/EXT or two monitors stacked and push bothe it and the FCTN (lower left corner) to change to INT, BOT, EXT over and over.

Good Luck!

Delay in Monitor display once the system goes in sleep mode

Instead of sleep mode, tyr hibernate. It is generally faster except the whole computer shuts down. When you power back up, you're exactly where you were. Mine takes about 30 seconds.

Follow this link for diagnostic error codes for your model: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dimc521/en/SM_EN/tshoot.htm#wp1064555

It appears that your video circuit has a problem, not the monitor but the graphics card or on board graphics controller.
