Question about Carrier XHB123D X/Y Series Heat/Cool Air Conditioner

BLOWER NOISE Carrier Weathermaker 8000 works fine but when shutting down the blower makes a slight sound. Sounds like tapping the bottom of an empty plastic liter pop bottle. Can the blower be lubricated or oiled? Thanks

Could be a loose blower wheel. It has slipped and touching the sides of the blower housing.
Turn off the power to the nit.
Remove the 2 bolts holding the blower in place.
Make yourself a wiring schematic.
Remove the wires.
Be careful not to touch the capacitor.
Remove the blower housing.
Clean the blower blades.
Spin the wheel to see where it is hitting.
Loosen the set screw on the motor shaft and adjust your blower wheel.

Sounds like you have a bearing going in the blower unit or a loose belt. Get it serviced by a reputable service company.

Hi, I have a Carrier 8000 Weathermaker forced hot air unit. The motor makes an incredible clicking/vibrating noise when spinning. Any idea what this is. I can press the aluminum plate it's attached to...

Hi Michael, it sounds as though you may have a piece of aluminum insulation or something in the blower wheel. You may want to kill power and check that out, as I have seen this happen before. If this is not the case, I would make sure that the wheel is spinning true, and not warped. You could be having a blower bearing problem. When you say clicking, this is why it sounds to me like something has been sucked into the blower housing. Also check the mounting bolts to make sure they haven't loosened up. If you can get it to stop by pressing on the side, it sounds like the wheel is either hitting something or it is out of balance do to motor bearings. If you can excess it, there should be no play in the motor shaft when you move it from side to side, or up and down. In and out is normal. Check all of these with a good strong light to see which is causing the noise, you should be able to pin it down. Please keep me posted in the comment box on what you may have found, and you and I can go from there.

I have a new home 1 yr and when the furnace kicks in, I am assuming the fan it makes a noise but as soon as the heat starts the noise is gone, could this be the furnace blower

Check by turning the unit off and turn the fan to on. Do you hear the noise now? The noise your hearing could be coming from your combustion fan assembly instead. Newer furnaces have a in-shot burner and are nosier than the old style of heater.

31 PRESSURE SWITCH DID NOT CLOSE OR REOPENED - If open longer than five minutes,
inducer shuts off for 15 minutes before retry. Check for: - Excessive wind
- Proper vent sizing - Defective inducer motor
- Low inducer voltage (115VAC) - Defective pressure switch
- Inadequate combustion air supply - Disconnected or obstructed pressure tubing
- Low inlet gas pressure (if LGPS used) - Restricted vent
If it opens during blower on-delay period, blower will come on for the selected blower
off-delay.

Your blower motor may have failed. Check the blower motor for the air circulation and you may find it is hot but not running. Have the motor replaced if this is the case.
