Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router (e125894)
Hi I am currently using a linksys WRT54GS router and have problems with
losing the signal all the time. I just switch everything off and on
again but have to go to the admin set up page everytime and rest
everything which is very frustrating. I am thinking of buying a new
router, but wanted to check that i've set it up ok. Maybe there is
something i need to do that i'm not aware of.
Also i have no WPA or WEP set up as i have no idea how to do this, do i need to contact my service provider for password or do i do this myself? Thanks in advance for your help!
I had the same exact problem with my router. If updating your firmware and resseting the router does not work then your router is defective. Linksys replaced mine!

Did you check online to see if there is a new version of the firmware available? That may help with things like losing configs. I've seen cases where doing the update even improves the signal.
Also, if the signal to your computer is weak to begin with, it won't take much to lose it. Even standing between the computer and the router can actually interrupt your signal. If this is the case, you may want to move your router closer to where you are using your computer or maybe putting it were there are less walls or other things between your computer and the router.
See if you can get a friend to come over with his laptop and see how his does, both near and far away from your router. It might just be some network setting or security software on your computer that causing you to lose your connection.

Sounds like you need to download a firmware update for your router, download the firmware to somewhere like your desktop, then browse to 192.168.1.1 and loginto your router and look for the update firmware link, browse to your downloaded file and update your firmaware, make sure you dont cut the router off or unplug it while it is updating.
