My garage door opener stoped working after a storm.

My garage door opener quit working after an electrical thunderstorm. Is it a fuse in the motor assembly that I can replace or I'm doomed and I just lost about $350.00 and I have to buy a new one. The door opener info is as follows: Brand: Liftmaster; Model: 3280; Serial# 4745514201149; 120 V; Hz 60; 1/2 HP; Amps 60.

There is a 2amp fuse inside the opener. go get one and replace it. please look at what kind of fuse it is it's the one that has glass all around and about 1 inch long. to replace this unplug the unit then take the 4 screws out take cover off and you will see the fuse inside

Does the wall control not work? Have you checked the house circuit breaker? Is there power to the opener? Motors very rarely go bad. If you have had a power surge or electrical storms I would suspect the logic board. You can pull this board and check for missing traces on the printed circuit.

If this all happened at the same time you have either had an electrical storm that cooked your logic boards or you have something in the house or garage that is interfering with the radio signal. If you added something new it should be obvious but this can happen at any time with older electrical gadgets. Check the LED on the rear of the motor unit. If it is blinking rapidly it is showing interference. Start unplugging until it quits. It could also be one of the remotes. Watch the LED and pull the batteries from them. Random blinking of the LED is normal.

I would pull the logic board and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit. Garage door openers hate electrical storms. I really doubt it got to your start capacitor.

There are no fuses in the opener. Pull the logic board (the end where all the white wires go) and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board. This is not uncommon where there are electrical storms.

Cannot re-program remote transmitters for garage door opener

If both remotes quit at or about the same time then it is most likely the receiver that has quit. Especially if you have had electrical storms in the area. The receiver is part of your logic board.

Craftman Garage Door Opener Quit Working.

It could be a bad logic board especially if you have had any electrical storms in the area. I would remove and check the logic board for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board.

First thing I would do is remove the wire from terminal #1 on the rear of the motor unit and try your remotes. This wire goes to the wall control and it sometimes causes the remotes to quit. If this doesn't correct the problem then I suspect a bad logic board. Especially if you have had any electrical storms.

Chamberlain 1/2hp Operator won't work after electrical storm

Sounds like the circuit board got zapped. You could price a new board or take it apart and check the components if you know how, but normal mortals would just buy a new unit.

My garage door opener stoped working after a storm.

TRY TO REPROGRAM THE REMOTES TO THE OPENER - THESE UNITS CAN LOSE THE MEMORY DURING STORMS.

I WOULD SUGGEST ADDING A SURGE PROTECTOR AT THE PLUG IN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR UNIT IN THE FUTURE.
