My hyundai Excel Sprint has sat for four years and I think the fuel has turned to jelly, how do I fix this problem. Do I have to remove the fuel tank and replace?

I disconnected the fuel line from the engine to the petrol tank and blew air down the line, the back pressure bought up what smelt like turpentine and some gunk. Is there an easier way to clean the tank out and the fuel line?

Dude lot of work but drop the tank clean it out don't forget to clean the fuel pump out and new filters new fuel and keek it jumped to another car until she starts ,just did same for hj holden but I had too replace take as it is a metal tank and it rusted out, if you have time let water soak in tank once out for about 12hours then rinse and dry completely by standing for 12hours all holes open good luck

Have you done a tune lately on the car?
I would also suspect a fuel pump problem is you've done a tune up recently.

Dear Fixya, My 1993 excel hyundai turns over but won't start, we put plugs and wires and new fuel gasket. we r wondering where the fuel pump is, is there one or two pumps and how to get to them to fix...

Have you checked for spark first? Sometimes a car won't start due to no spark. This condition is usually caused by: Security system, bad ignition module, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor. You check it by pulling a plug wire and putting a screwdriver in the wire to see if it arcs. If it is getting fire look for the fuel pressure release valve usually located on the fuel rail, looks like a tire valve stem. If it shoots out gas, and you hear the fuel pump prime, check the fuel pressure regulator. It could also be the timing. There are four things needed for a car to start: fuel, spark, timing, compression. As for your question, as far as I know there is one fuel pump, you have to drop the tank to fix it. Hope this helps.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 1989 hyundai

Turn the car on and listen for a sound resembling an electric motor running, which should stop after just a few seconds of having the key turned to acc (pre ignition) If nothing then you will have to drop the gas tank belts and pull the pump from the upper assymbly. I believe it is threaded normally and the fuel hoses can be removed with the ends taped to keep dust and dirt from making its way into your fuel system.
Check O'Reilys or Autozone for the pump

Can i replace the side door of my hyundai excel

Apparently NOT since you cannot find a replacement part.... logic follows: you cannot replace it when/if you don't have a replacement. Ya think?

Hyundai excel 1997 sprint

Hi, if it is an early 97 12valve engine the plugs will be accessed through between the exhaust manifold sections at the front of the motor. if it is a 16 valve, then you remove the plug leads to get access undo them, then use the lead cap to remove the plugs, ie wqhen the plug is undone, push the lead cap back onto the plug, and lift it out. you certainly would not need to remove the valve cover.
