Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router (e125894)
Hi I am currently using a linksys WET54GS router and have problems with losing the signal all the time. I just switch everything off and on again but have to go to the admin set up page everytime and rest everything which is very frustrating. I am thinking of buying a new router, but wanted to check that i've set it up ok. Maybe there is something i need to do that i'm not aware of. Also i have no WPA or WEP set up as i have no idea how to do this, do i need to contact my service provider for password or do i do this myself? Thanks in advance for your help!
You router may be going bad. These routers are pretty plug and play so there is minimal setup to get you started.
I went through a few cheap routers myself before I found a reliable one. It cost me a bit more but was well worth it.
You can try to default the router to factory settings and also look at downloading a firmware upgrade from the Linksys website. This is covered in the documentation that was supplied withthe router. Sometimes the help files are also built into the router.

You can set it up yourself via the router. Basically you choose which one your're going to use and setup an encrypted password. Then add this password to the connection profile for your router when it ask for it upon connection.

Sounds like you need to download a firmware update for your router, go to http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/wet54gs5_v492,0.zip
and download the firmware to somewhere like your desktop, then browse to 192.168.1.1 and loginto your router and look for the update firmware link, browse to your downloaded file and update your firmaware, make sure you dont cut the router off or unplug it while it is updating.
